WHOSE VOICE IS THAT?

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Zara stood in front of her mirror for the tenth time that morning.
She turned to the left.
She turned to the right.
She sucked in her stomach.
She frowned at her reflection.

She wasn’t always like this.
There was a time she loved her face, her skin, her shape, her laughter everything.
But recently, every time she opened social media, someone was telling her who she should be.

“Skinnier.”
“Curvier.”
“Fairer.”
“Taller.”
“More fashionable.”
“More outspoken.”
“Less emotional.”

Slowly, their voices became louder than God’s voice in her heart until she could no longer recognize herself.

One evening, after crying quietly in her room, she sent a message to her older cousin, a woman she deeply respected:

Aunty, do you think I’m enough?

Her cousin called immediately.

“Zara, who told you that you’re not enough?”

There was silence.

Her cousin continued, gently but firmly:
“Every time God speaks, He builds you.
Every time the enemy speaks, he breaks you.
So ask yourself, whose voice have you been listening to?”

Those words stayed with Zara long after the call ended.
She took her Bible, sat on her bed, and whispered, “Lord, what do You say about me?”

A peace she had not felt in months settled on her like a warm blanket.

In her spirit, she heard:
“You are fearfully and wonderfully made.”
“You are mine.”
“You are my workmanship.”
“Nothing is wrong with you, I designed you intentionally.”

At that moment, Zara realized her problem wasn’t her body, her personality, or her life.

Her problem was the voice she chose to believe.

People are constantly speaking friends, family, culture, social media, trends, and even strangers.
But the loudest voice in your life must always be God’s voice.

Every other voice, no matter how loud, trendy, or convincing must bow to what He has said.

Before you accept any statement about your life, beauty, marriage, dreams, purpose, identity, or destiny, ask:

“Lord, is this You?”

If it’s not Him, throw it away before it throws you off course.

KEY SCRIPTURE:

John 10:5 — “They will never follow a stranger; in fact, they will run away from him because they do not recognize a stranger’s voice.”

PRAYER POINTS

Lord, silence every voice that does not align with Your Word for my life.

Father, teach me to recognize Your voice above noise, trends, lies, and pressure.

Lord, heal every part of my heart wounded by negative words spoken over me.
