“WHEN THE TAP STOPS RUNNING”
A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

I remember Toyosi from university. She was that girl everyone knew, brilliant, creative, and unstoppable. At 19, she launched a skincare brand from her hostel room, mixing natural oils and butters with precision and passion.
Within months, she had gone viral on social media. Her “Glow by Toyo” products were selling across Africa, and soon, she was featured on international platforms as one of Africa’s youngest beauty entrepreneurs.
Money came fast. So did fame.
But so did reckless spending.
From private shopping trips to Paris to buying properties she never managed, Toyosi lived like the tap of wealth would never stop running.
By 26, her brand had faded. Competitors emerged. Trends changed. Her business slowed. And so did the money.
With tears in her eyes, she once told me:
“I thought the abundance would last forever. I didn’t know God was allowing me gather for a season I couldn’t yet see.”

Just like Joseph warned Pharaoh, God often gives us seasons of plenty so we can prepare for seasons of drought.
But too many of us eat everything during harvest, and have nothing during famine.
In Genesis 41, Joseph taught Pharaoh to store one-fifth of every harvest during the 7 years of abundance, so Egypt would not suffer when the famine came.
That wisdom preserved an entire nation.
Has God opened financial or career doors for you lately?
Don’t assume it will always be like that. Every open door today is an opportunity to prepare for a closed door tomorrow.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
“The abundance in the land of Egypt will not be remembered, because the famine that follows it will be so severe.”
— Genesis 41:30 (NIV)
****
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, give me wisdom to manage my resources in seasons of abundance.
2. Father, help me to discern times and seasons, and not live for the moment.
3. If I’ve wasted my past abundance, Lord, show me mercy and restore my harvest.
*****
📌 Life Lesson:
Every tap stops running eventually. The wise store water while it still flows.

Father, help me to discern times and seasons, and not live for the moment.
If I’ve wasted my past abundance, Lord, show me mercy and restore my harvest.
