Amara had always enjoyed her morning devotions.

For years, God seemed to speak to her through Bible verses. Almost every question she had was answered by a Scripture that would suddenly come alive in her heart.

One morning, however, things changed.

The familiar verses stopped coming. Days turned into weeks. Weeks turned into months.

“Lord, have I done something wrong?” she wondered.

As time passed, Amara became frustrated. She felt disconnected and spiritually dry. The peace she once enjoyed seemed to be fading.

Determined to seek God afresh, she set aside a weekend for prayer and fasting.

On the second day of her retreat, she sat quietly in worship. Suddenly, a memory flashed through her mind.

She remembered how, over the past few months, she had repeatedly felt nudged to call certain people, encourage others, apologize to someone she had offended, and pray for specific situations.

Each time, she dismissed those thoughts as random ideas.

Then the Holy Spirit whispered to her heart:

“Daughter, those were not random thoughts.”

Amara sat upright.

“What do You mean, Lord?”

“I was speaking to you.”

Her eyes filled with tears.

“You were?”

“Yes. You kept waiting for Me to speak through Scripture impressions because that is what you were used to. But I chose to guide you through gentle promptings and instructions. You were looking for the old signal while I was using a new one.”

At that moment, everything became clear.

God had never stopped speaking.

She had simply become too attached to one method.

The verse that immediately came to her heart was:

“Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'”

Sometimes, we become so familiar with one way God speaks that we miss Him when He chooses another.

God is not limited to a formula.

He may speak through His Word.
He may speak through godly counsel.
He may speak through conviction.
He may speak through promptings.
He may speak through circumstances He orchestrates.

The important thing is not the method.

The important thing is recognizing His voice.

Remain sensitive.
Remain teachable.
Remain flexible.

The Spirit still speaks.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Isaiah 30:21 – “Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, ‘This is the way; walk in it.'”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, help me recognize Your voice regardless of the method You choose to speak through.
Father, remove every spiritual rigidity that prevents me from following Your leading.
Holy Spirit, make me sensitive and obedient to Your instructions every day.
