HE NEVER STOPPED KNOCKING
A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Everyone in the neighborhood knew Tade.
Not because he was exceptionally good, but because he had a reputation for making poor choices. He had disappointed people who trusted him, broken promises, and walked away from countless opportunities to change.
Yet, somehow, life kept giving him another chance.
One rainy evening, Tade sat under a bus stop shelter after narrowly escaping a terrible accident. Just weeks earlier, he had survived a robbery attack. Months before that, he had recovered from an illness that doctors feared would become severe.
As he reflected on these events, his elderly neighbor, Baba James, walked up to him.
“Tade,” he said gently, “have you ever wondered why you’re still here?”
Tade laughed nervously. “Luck, I guess.”
The old man smiled.
“No, my son. Luck doesn’t keep knocking on the same door. God does.”
The words settled heavily on Tade’s heart.
Baba James continued, “Many times, you ignored Him. Many times, you walked away. Yet He keeps protecting you, speaking to you, sending people to you, and giving you opportunities to return. That’s not luck. That’s love.”
That night, Tade couldn’t sleep.
For years, he had mistaken God’s patience for permission. He had treated God’s mercy as something ordinary.
But now he understood.
Every spared danger.
Every second chance.
Every warning.
Every act of protection.
They were all evidence of a God who refused to stop knocking on the door of his heart.
And for the first time in a long while, Tade knelt beside his bed and whispered,
“Lord, You’ve been calling me for years. I’m done running.”
There are people reading this who know exactly what Tade felt.
You know God has been pursuing you.
You know His hand has protected you when you didn’t deserve it.
You know He has been speaking through circumstances, people, sermons, and quiet convictions.
The question is not whether God loves you.
The question is: How long will you keep Him waiting at the door?
His love is patient.
His mercy is persistent.
His grace keeps reaching.
But wisdom says to respond while the door of opportunity is still open.
KEY SCRIPTURE:
Revelation 3:20 – “Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with Me.”
PRAYER POINTS:
Lord, help me recognize the many ways You have been pursuing me with Your love.
Father, forgive me for the times I ignored Your voice and took Your mercy for granted.
Lord, give me a heart that responds quickly to Your call and walks closely with You.
