WHEN THE CHAINS FALL OFF
A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Bisi sat quietly at the back of the church auditorium, watching the choir minister.
Tears gathered in her eyes.
Years ago, she had dreamed of standing where they stood, serving God with all her heart. She loved the Lord deeply, but something always seemed to hold her back.
Every time she tried to draw closer to God, the voice of her past became louder.
“After all you’ve done?”
“You think God can use someone like you?”
“You’re not worthy.”
So she remained in the shadows, longing to serve but feeling disqualified.
A few rows ahead sat Kunle.
His struggle was different.
He loved God, but he was trapped in habits he could not seem to break. Every victory lasted only a few days before he found himself back where he started.
Then there was Mama Tayo.
For years, sickness had drained her strength. She wanted to spend her days serving God and helping others, but most mornings were spent battling pain and weakness.
Different people.
Different stories.
Different chains.
But the same desire:
“Lord, I want to serve You.”
One evening during a prayer meeting, the minister shared a simple truth:
“Jesus did not only come to forgive sins. He came to set captives free.”
Those words settled deeply in their hearts.
For the first time, they stopped focusing on their limitations and began focusing on God’s power.
They prayed.
They cried.
They surrendered.
And gradually, the chains began to fall.
Some chains broke instantly.
Others broke over time.
But freedom came because they stopped accepting captivity as their identity.
They discovered that God does not merely call people to serve Him. He also provides the freedom needed to fulfill that calling.
Many believers desire to serve God wholeheartedly, but unseen battles often stand in their way.
Fear.
Guilt.
Addictions.
Afflictions.
Oppression.
Discouragement.
These things were never meant to become permanent residents in your life.
Jesus came not only to save you but also to free you.
The God who calls you is also able to deliver you.
Don’t settle for the chains.
Seek the freedom He has already provided.
KEY SCRIPTURE:
John 8:36 – “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.”
PRAYER POINTS:
Lord, by Your mercy, deliver me from every bondage hindering me from fulfilling Your purpose.
Father, break every chain of fear, guilt, addiction, affliction, and oppression in my life.
Lord, help me walk in the freedom You purchased for me and serve You wholeheartedly.
