A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

The rain had fallen for days without stopping. Rivers overflowed, roads disappeared beneath rushing waters, and many things that once looked strong were carried away by the flood.

As Tayo stood watching the raging waters, he noticed something remarkable. Trees had fallen. Fences had collapsed. Debris floated helplessly downstream.

But there, in the middle of it all, stood a massive rock.

The flood pushed against it.
The wind beat upon it.
The waters surrounded it.

Yet it remained exactly where it had always been.

Unmoved.
Unshaken.
Unchanged.

As he stared at the rock, a thought settled deeply in his heart:

“This is what God is like.”

Life often comes with floods of disappointment, fear, sickness, uncertainty, and loss. Many people place their confidence in things that appear strong but cannot withstand life’s storms.

Some trust in wealth.
Others trust in connections.
Some trust in their own strength and abilities.

But sooner or later, every foundation is tested.

Only one foundation remains standing through every storm.

God.

Generation after generation has testified of His faithfulness. Kings have trusted Him. Prophets have depended on Him. Ordinary men and women have run to Him and found safety.

He has never failed.

He has never been moved.

He has never lost a battle.

And because He remains steadfast, those who stand upon Him can remain steadfast too.

That day, as the floodwaters continued their assault against the rock, Tayo smiled and whispered:

“Lord, if You are my Rock, then I do not have to fear the flood.”

The storms of life are inevitable.

Floods will come.
Challenges will arise.
Pressure will increase.

But when God is your foundation, you do not have to live in fear.

The strength of a building is determined by what it stands upon.

If your life is built upon the Solid Rock, you can remain unshaken regardless of what comes against you.

Stay close to Him.
Stay rooted in Him.
Stay anchored in Him.

And you too will remain unshaken.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Psalm 94:22 – “But the Lord has become my fortress, and my God the rock in whom I take refuge.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, help me to build my life completely upon You, my Solid Rock.
Father, when the storms of life arise, keep my faith steadfast and unshaken.
Lord, be my refuge, strength, and security in every season of life.
