Everyone admired the Adeyemis. They seemed like the perfect couple. Tunde often spoke proudly of his wife, Yetunde. She was kind, supportive, prayerful, and deeply committed to their home.

But over time, Tunde stopped appreciating what he had. His attention began to drift. Casual conversations with a married colleague became emotional dependence. Emotional dependence became secret meetings. Secret meetings became a dangerous affair.

He convinced himself that no one would find out.

Until one evening.

The truth surfaced, and what had been hidden was suddenly exposed. The trust of his wife was shattered. The respect he had built over the years crumbled. His children became confused by the tension in their once peaceful home.

Sitting alone after the chaos that followed, Tunde remembered the many warnings he had ignored.

“Guard your heart.”

“Flee temptation.”

“Be satisfied with the wife of your youth.”

He had thought adultery was merely a private mistake.

Now he understood that sin never remains private. It wounds hearts, destroys trust, and leaves scars that take years to heal.

With tears in his eyes, he cried out to God for mercy and the courage to rebuild what his choices had broken.

Many people think adultery begins with an action.

It does not.

It often begins with an unguarded heart, unchecked desires, and small compromises.

God’s instructions concerning marriage are not meant to restrict us; they are meant to protect us.

Faithfulness is not merely avoiding the wrong person. It is continually choosing the right one.

If you are married, honour your covenant.

If you are struggling with temptation, seek God’s help before temptation becomes destruction.

Wisdom protects. Sin destroys.

KEY SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 5:18–19 – “May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth… may you ever be intoxicated with her love.”

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, help me to guard my heart against every form of temptation and compromise.

2. Father, teach me to honour the relationships and covenants You have entrusted to me.

3. Lord, grant me wisdom to flee from anything that seeks to destroy my integrity, peace, and future.
