FRUITFULNESS

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

As Inspired by the LIVING WORD

Bimpe had always dreamed of owning a small farm.

After years of working in the city, she finally moved back to her hometown and leased a piece of land. She had prayed extensively before making the decision.

“Lord, what should I do with this season of my life?” she had asked repeatedly.

The answer had come clearly in different ways.

A sermon on fruitfulness.
A casual conversation with an elderly woman at church who said, “The earth still rewards diligent hands.”
And a strong conviction in her spirit to cultivate the land.

So, Bimpe obeyed.

She bought seedlings, hired laborers, and planted vegetables across the field.

Then she waited.

Weeks passed.

The expected rains didn’t come.

The leaves began to wilt. The soil cracked beneath the scorching sun. Fear gripped her heart.

One evening, standing at the edge of her drying farm, she cried out, “Lord, You were the One who led me here. Why does it seem like everything is falling apart?”

As she prayed, a thought settled deeply in her heart:

“I gave you the field, but I did not ask you to stop depending on Me.”

Bimpe stood still.

It dawned on her that receiving God’s direction was not the end of her responsibility.

Hadn’t Hannah continued praying after receiving Samuel?
Didn’t Noah keep building even after hearing God’s instruction?
Didn’t Elijah keep praying for rain after receiving God’s promise?

Faith was never passive.

The next morning, Bimpe took action. She sought advice from experienced farmers, invested in an irrigation system within her means, and continued praying over her farm daily.

“Father, breathe upon the work of my hands. Send help. Open doors. Let what You have started flourish.”

Weeks later, things began to change.

A neighboring farmer offered to share his water source temporarily. Unexpected customers began placing orders ahead of harvest. The crops recovered beautifully, and by the end of the season, Bimpe had her most abundant yield yet.

As she stood among baskets overflowing with fresh produce, tears filled her eyes.

God had not abandoned her.

He had simply invited her into partnership.

Sometimes, we assume that because God gave the vision, success will happen effortlessly.

But divine instruction does not eliminate human participation.

God gives promises, but He also calls us to prayer, diligence, wisdom, and perseverance.

Pray over your marriage.
Pray over your children.
Pray over your business.
Pray over the assignment God has entrusted to you.

The God who gives the seed also expects us to water it.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Colossians 4:2 – “Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, teach me to remain dependent on You even after receiving Your direction.
