THE HIDDEN SEASON

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Bisi watched the graduation ceremony on television with mixed feelings. One after another, young people mounted the stage to receive awards, scholarships, and recognition for achievements she could only dream of.

She switched off the television and sighed deeply.

“Lord, when will it be my turn?” she whispered.

For months, she had felt forgotten. While others seemed to be moving ahead, she was learning, growing, serving faithfully, and developing skills no one noticed. The hidden season felt long and unrewarding.

A few days later, she visited her aunt, a professional caterer. As they prepared for a major event, Bisi noticed that the guests admired only the beautifully decorated cakes displayed on the tables.

No one saw the sleepless nights.
No one saw the countless failed recipes.
No one saw the hours spent learning measurements, techniques, and presentation.

The applause was public.
The preparation had been private.

At that moment, something stirred in Bisi’s heart.

Perhaps God wasn’t delaying her.
Perhaps He was developing her.

She remembered John the Baptist. The Scriptures simply declared that John appeared in the wilderness, preaching a baptism of repentance. Yet, long before his appearance, there had been years of preparation hidden from public eyes.

Bisi smiled.

Her season of obscurity was not punishment.
It was training.

She returned home with a renewed perspective. Instead of complaining about being unnoticed, she embraced the process. She would study. She would pray. She would build character. She would sharpen her gifts.

Because when heaven eventually turned the spotlight in her direction, she wanted to be ready.

Many people celebrate appearances but ignore preparation.

What people call “overnight success” is often the result of years of unseen discipline, growth, and obedience.

If you are in a hidden season, do not despise it.

God uses private seasons to build public vessels.

Your preparation today will sustain your manifestation tomorrow.

Be faithful in the quiet places.
Your appointed time to appear will come.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Luke 16:10 – *”Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much…”*
