WHEN THE NIGHT FEELS TOO LONG
A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

As Inspired by the LIVING WORD
Mira sat at her window again. It was 4:12 a.m, the same hour she found herself awake almost every night.
She wasn’t praying.
She wasn’t crying.
She was simply… waiting.
Waiting for life to change.
Waiting for answers that seemed silent.
Waiting for a dawn that felt too slow.
Months earlier, Mira had gone through a painful season. The job she hoped for slipped away. Her relationship ended abruptly. Her plans scattered like dust in the wind. She felt trapped in an invisible room where nothing was moving.
“Will it ever be over?” she whispered almost every morning.
One night, overwhelmed, she stepped outside to get fresh air. The sky was dark, thicker than usual. No moon, no stars. Just a deep blanket of blackness.
“Lord, this is how my life feels,” she muttered.
“Dark. Empty. Endless.”
But as she stood there, something caught her attention.
A small sound.
Chirp… chirp… chirp.
A lone bird, singing in pitch darkness.
“How is this bird singing? There’s no light yet,” Mira thought.
Then a gentle voice echoed in her heart:
“The bird sings before the morning because it trusts that dawn is coming.”
Mira froze.
That one tiny sound carried a message she needed
A reminder that darkness does not mean abandonment,
Delay does not mean denial,
And waiting is not punishment sometimes, it is protection.
God was keeping her safe in a season that felt like a prison but was actually a shelter…
Just like the ark that felt confining to the animals, yet protected them from the flood.
Just like the dove that kept returning until the right moment arrived.
Just like the long nights that always give way to dawn.
Mira lifted her eyes to the sky.
No light yet.
But the bird kept singing.
And for the first time in months, she whispered:
“Lord… I will trust You in the night.”
Weeks later, slowly but surely, things began to shift.
A new opportunity.
A restored friendship.
A revived hope.
Light breaking through.
And Mira learned:
The night always feels longest just before the morning breaks.
But the morning will come.
Your waiting will not last forever.
KEY SCRIPTURE
Psalm 30:5 — “Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
PRAYER POINTS
1. Lord, strengthen me while I wait. Help me trust You even when I do not see the full picture.
2. Father, reveal to me if my waiting is Your protection. Help me rest in Your timing.
3. Lord, let my dawn break forth. Turn my night season into testimonies of joy and restoration.

Thanks for allowing yourself as a veseel ma.
Amen 🙏
I just finished crying to God because I was tired of my situation, it felt as though it will never end and not quite long, I saw this and decided to just look at it. I’m grateful, this is a confirmation that indeed I’m not alone, that God is actually aware of my troubles. Thank God for this
Thank you ma for this. I’m blessed
I was actually going through something and I was talking to God and immeadiately the message dropped. I’m short of words to comment. Thank you Lord for the assurance.
Amen.
Continous hope in the Lord will never end in disappointment. All we need to do is to remain focused and trust in His promises.
Almighty God is not a liar, whatever He says shall surely be accomplished, it might be late than our expectations but at His own time which is always the best time for human beings it will be accomplished.
Thanks for the Devotional!
