‘WHEN THE LIGHT RETURNS’

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Kemi loved to sing during her quiet time. Every morning, her small room was filled with melodies of worship. But for weeks now, it had been different. Her songs felt empty, her prayers like whispers to a closed ceiling.

One evening, frustrated, she cried out, “Lord, where are You? Why can’t I feel You anymore?”

As she sat in silence, she remembered a time when her life was simpler before the “little habits” crept in. The secret chats she knew were ungodly. The bitterness she had refused to let go of. The casual lies. The hidden addiction she laughed off.

It was then she realized: She was trying to find God in a room cluttered with darkness.

That night, she made a choice. She deleted the secret chats. She confessed her bitterness and called the person to forgive. She shut down the things that once gave her temporary comfort but left her spiritually empty.

Days later, she woke up at 5 a.m. and whispered, “Good morning, Father…”
For the first time in weeks, her room was flooded with His presence. Peace returned. Joy overflowed. And in her spirit, she heard Him whisper:
“I never left. I was waiting for you to clear the space so My light could shine again.”

*****

God does not abandon His children, but His presence will not dwell in a life that entertains darkness. If you want His light to return, you must throw out the trash.

The truth is simple: The Living God cannot dwell in dead places.

Clean up your life. Remove the things that reek of sin. And watch how quickly His presence floods back in with peace, joy, and blessings you’ve been waiting for.
