‘WHEN THE CLAY RESISTS’

Damilola had been training as a fashion designer for three years. Her dream was to be the kind of creative that made heads turn on the runway. One afternoon, her mentor gave her a delicate assignment: design a dress using an unusual fabric blend that required patience and precision.

She started enthusiastically, but as the sewing machine kept breaking needles and the fabric refused to cooperate, she grew frustrated. Instead of slowing down and following her mentor’s detailed instructions, she cut corners. The dress came out lopsided and unwearable.

Her mentor sighed, “Dami, I wanted this piece to launch you into a fashion competition next month. But since you rushed and refused to follow my guidance, I’ll have to give that opportunity to another student.”

That evening, Damilola wept. She realized that her inability to cooperate had cost her a breakthrough her mentor had intended all along.

God is the Master Potter, the Designer of our lives. His intentions for us are always good (Jeremiah 29:11). Yet when we resist His shaping, cut corners in obedience, or insist on doing life our own way, we risk forfeiting the very glory He planned for us.

Like clay in the hands of a potter, when we yield, we are molded into something beautiful. But clay that resists gets reshaped into something less than it was meant to be.

The truth is sobering: God’s intention for you is glorious, but whether it manifests depends on your cooperation.

Isaiah 64:8 – “Yet you, Lord, are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter; we are all the work of your hand.”

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, help me to yield fully to Your molding hands and not resist Your process.

2. Father, keep me from pride, impatience, or disobedience that can sabotage Your intentions for my life.

3. Lord, may Your perfect design for my life be fulfilled without delay or replacement in Jesus’ name.
