‘WHEN THE LIFELINE SNAPS…’
A Deep Thoughts Devotional

“Grace covers me,” Sharon smirked as she locked her hotel room door behind her.
It wasn’t the first time she had said those words.
It wasn’t the first time she had quoted the blood of Jesus as a license to continue her affair with a married man.
She was the “spiritually enlightened” one in the group chat. She posted Bible quotes, attended conferences, led prayers at her workplace.
But when it came to sexual sin, she had carved out a corner in her theology labeled “permissible under grace.”
Her friend Dara had warned her several times:
“Sharon, you’re playing games with a holy God. What you’re calling grace might actually be gamble.”
Sharon laughed it off. “Jesus already paid. He doesn’t collect twice.”
Then one day, her lifeline snapped.
The scandal broke. The man’s wife was a high-ranking lawyer. Sharon’s pictures, chats, bank statements, all exposed. Her career ended overnight. Worse still, the shame dragged her parents’ name through the mud. And the same church that once celebrated her voice in worship, quietly disassociated.
When Dara visited her at home after months of silence, Sharon’s eyes were hollow.
“I boxed God,” she whispered.
“I made Him so small, just my sweet escape, not my righteous Judge.”
Grace is not permission to play with sin.
It’s not a free pass to deliberately violate the very cross that bought you.
Scripture says in Titus 2:11-12:
“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives…”
Grace is an assistance, not an excuse.
It’s a lifeline, not a loophole.
God is not just the Lamb. He is also the Lion.
He is not only the Savior, He is the Righteous Judge.
Don’t reduce Him to the version that suits your preferences.
Let’s live in the full knowledge of who He is not just the parts we like.
PRAYER:
Lord, help me not to take Your grace for granted.
Search my heart and uproot every wilful pattern of sin.
Help me to honor Your name both in public and in secret.
SCRIPTURE FOCUS:
Titus 2:11-12
Hebrews 10:26 — “If we deliberately keep on sinning after we have received the knowledge of the truth, no sacrifice for sins is left…”
