WHEN MY HELPER RUNS EMPTY

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Tara stared at her phone in disbelief. The message was short, polite, and painfully unexpected:

“Tara, I wish I could help, but I honestly don’t have anything right now.”

It came from Miss Gloria, the woman who once promised to support her business and had always spoken favorably about her. Tara knew she wasn’t stingy. She wasn’t wicked. In fact, she had a generous heart.

So why this message?
Why now, when Tara needed her the most?

As tears gathered, Tara reached for her Bible, hoping for comfort. She opened randomly and her eyes fell on a verse in 2 Kings 4, the story of the widow who ran to Elisha with a desperate cry.

“Your servant my husband is dead… and the creditor is coming to take my two sons…”

Elisha asked her a simple question: “What do you have in the house?”
She replied, “Nothing… except a jar of oil.”

Tara paused.
That word “nothing” pulled at her heart.

The widow truly wanted to solve her problem, but she had nothing to offer.
And suddenly, it hit Tara:

Miss Gloria truly wanted to help her, but she had nothing to offer at the moment.
She wasn’t lying. She wasn’t wicked.
She was simply empty, just like the widow’s house before God intervened.

Then Tara understood…
Sometimes, the people assigned to help you also need help.
Sometimes your helper is stranded.
Sometimes the person you’re leaning on has nothing left to give — spiritually, financially, emotionally, or even physically.

Instead of anger, Tara whispered a new prayer:
“Lord… help my helper.”

Because if their hands remain empty, hers will remain empty too.

That day, Tara changed her prayer strategy.
She stopped blaming.
She stopped assuming evil.
She stopped getting offended.

She began to intercede for the people God destined to lift her.
She prayed that the heavens over them would open.
She prayed that whatever blocked their blessing would scatter.
She prayed that God would fill their hands, so they could in turn bless her.

And just like the widow’s oil that multiplied, Tara believed God would multiply the resources of her helpers too.

Sometimes, the delay in your blessing is not because you lack faith. It’s because your helper lacks supply.

Pray for them.
Strengthen them.
Cover them.

When God refills them, grace will flow to you.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
2 Kings 4:2 — “And she said, ‘Your maidservant has nothing in the house but a jar of oil.’”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, bless every man and woman You have ordained to bless me.
Fill their hands, enlarge their capacity, and open their doors.

Every power blocking the breakthrough of my helpers, scatter by fire in Jesus’ Name.

Father, help my helpers. Supply their needs so they can supply mine. Strengthen them so they can stand in their assignment toward me.

Oh Lord, give my helpers something — so they can in turn give me something, according to Your divine will.
