WHEN LITTLE DISOBEDIENCE BECOMES A BIG LOSS
A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Amaka stared at her account balance in disbelief.
₦327.
Just two years earlier, she had received over ₦12 million, a miracle she once testified about with tears of gratitude.
Now, everything was gone.
She leaned back on her bed and whispered to herself,
“What really happened?”
But deep down, she already knew.
The miracle had started unexpectedly. After years of struggling financially, a former schoolmate living abroad reached out to her. They reconnected, and after hearing Amaka’s painful story, the friend decided to help her start a business.
The money arrived like rain after drought.
That night, Amaka prayed and clearly felt God placing instructions in her heart:
“Honor Me first.
Help your aunt who has been struggling.
Do not rush into unnecessary spending.”
But the excitement of sudden wealth drowned out the voice of obedience.
She postponed giving.
Ignored the prompting to help others.
Started buying things she didn’t need.
Entered risky partnerships she never prayed about.
At first, everything looked fine.
Then slowly, things began to fall apart.
Goods got damaged.
Customers disappeared.
Unexpected bills surfaced.
Then came strange health issues that swallowed money endlessly.
Within months, the miracle had become a memory.
Sitting quietly with tears in her eyes, Amaka finally understood something painful:
Sometimes, it is not the absence of blessings that destroys people, it is the neglect of obedience.
God’s instructions are not meant to restrict you.
They are meant to preserve you.
Many people pray for open doors, but few understand that sustaining blessings requires obedience.
Delayed obedience still has consequences.
Ignored instructions can invite unnecessary battles.
If you have been experiencing repeated setbacks, this may be a good moment to pause and ask:
“Lord, is there any instruction I have ignored?”
Mercy is still available.
Return to obedience today.
KEY SCRIPTURE:
Deuteronomy 28:38 – “You will sow much seed in the field but you will harvest little, because locusts will devour it.”
