WHEN HE FIGHTS FOR YOU
A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

As Inspired by the LIVING WORD
Pastor Ade had built his small supermarket from nothing. Years of honesty, diligence, and faithfulness had made it flourish. He paid his tithes faithfully and always reminded his family, “God is the true owner of this business.”
But something strange began to happen.
Sales were dropping.
Goods were disappearing.
Records weren’t adding up.
One evening, he checked the CCTV footage and his heart broke.
It wasn’t a staff member.
It wasn’t an outsider.
It was his own nephew, Kola the young man he had taken in, trained, and trusted.
Pastor Ade confronted him gently, but Kola denied it. Again and again.
Ordinarily, Pastor Ade would have handed any thief over to the authorities. But this was family. He chose mercy. He chose patience. He chose silence.
Yet Heaven was not silent.
God had promised in His Word to rebuke the devourer for the sake of His faithful ones. And Kola had unknowingly positioned himself as a devourer in the life of a man who honored God.
One night, after stealing money again to impress friends, Kola got involved in a dangerous situation that left him stranded and humiliated. What was meant to be a night of pleasure turned into a season of reflection.
When he finally returned home, broken and sober, something had changed. Pride was gone. Gratitude had grown. Repentance had taken root.
God had fought a battle Pastor Ade was too gentle to fight.
This story echoes what happened between David and Absalom. Absalom rose against his father not just as a son, but as a rebel. David loved him deeply and even instructed his soldiers, “Deal gently with the young man for my sake.”
But when a person chooses rebellion over repentance, even parental love cannot shield them from consequences. Absalom found himself trapped suspended between heaven and earth until the battle caught up with him.
There are times you will refuse to fight.
You will choose mercy.
You will choose silence.
You will choose love.
But if you truly belong to God, He will not ignore injustice done against you.
God defends His own.
Sometimes He corrects.
Sometimes He exposes.
Sometimes He allows consequences to teach what words could not.
The prayer is this
May those who rise against us encounter mercy and repent.
But those who stubbornly persist in destruction will face the justice of God.
When you walk uprightly, you don’t need to fight every battle.
Heaven is not passive.
KEY SCRIPTURE:
Exodus 14:14 – “The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.”
PRAYER POINTS:
Lord, fight every battle I am too weak or unwilling to fight.
Father, defend me against every devourer assigned against my life.
Lord, let Your mercy lead my enemies to repentance, but let Your justice prevail where necessary.
