‘WHEN GOD CHANGES THE SCRIPT’

A Deep Thoughts Devotional

Adeola had everything mapped out.
By 30, she would be married.
By 31, her first child.
At 35, she would be done birthing and focus on climbing the corporate ladder.

But 30 came. No husband.
31 came. Still no sign.
And when love finally came at 34, it was a humble widower with two children, not the tall, dreamy diplomat she had envisioned.

“I’ve worked too hard to settle for this,” she cried to God. “This wasn’t part of my plan.”

But peace didn’t leave her. Each time she prayed, it was as though heaven whispered, “I am writing a better script.”

Two years later, one of those stepchildren, the quiet boy with speech delay was discovered to have a unique gift. He could memorize and recite full chapters of Scripture by heart. Today, he teaches the Word to hundreds of children weekly through a ministry Adeola unknowingly birthed.

What seemed like a detour was actually divine redirection. God changed the script, and it brought Him glory.

We all have dreams. Pictures of how life should unfold. But sometimes, God changes the script.

Just like He did for Mary and Joseph (Matthew 1:18–25), He may interrupt your plans, not to punish you, but to position you for something greater.

You may be upset now because the “perfect” job slipped away… or the relationship didn’t work out. But what if God was protecting you or preparing you?

Remember:

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you…” Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV)

When God changes your script, trust that it’s because He holds the original manuscript, the one where everything ends in glory.

PRAYER:
Lord, I surrender my calendar, my checklist, my goals, interrupt my smaller plans with Your greater ones. Help me trust Your direction, even when I don’t understand the scene. Amen.

    1. Lord, I surrender my calendar, my checklist, my goals, interrupt my smaller plans with Your greater ones. Help me trust Your direction, even when I don’t understand the scene, Lord in Jesus’ name. Amen.
