THE 15 MINUTES ASSIGNMENT

Ijeoma didn’t know why she felt led to attend that health outreach. She wasn’t a nurse or a volunteer. She had only seen the banner at the bus stop, but she woke up with a burning desire to go…She just felt in her spirit, “Go.”

She got there, sat quietly, and noticed a young teenage girl sitting alone, looking anxious.

Ijeoma walked up to her and said, “Hi dear, are you okay?”

The girl burst into tears. She was considering aborting a pregnancy she had kept hidden.

For the next 30 minutes, Ijeoma listened, comforted, and shared hope.

By the end of their conversation, the girl chose life…for herself and her baby.

Ijeoma never saw her again.

But as she drove home that evening, she felt the Spirit of God say:

“That was your assignment for today. You were sent for her. Thank you for being reliable”

Dear Family, This story reminds me of THE TEMPORARY SHELTERS IN NEHEMIAH 8:16

When the people were told to go out and build temporary shelters, it was a brief assignment…just for the duration of the Feast.( A month). They were told to build temporal shelters and live in it for a month.

But that assignment carried deep spiritual significance.

It was about obedience, sensitivity, and remembrance.

God was testing their hearts to see if they would respond to a temporary instruction with full obedience.

That leads me to asking…ARE YOU SENSITIVE TO GOD’S SHORT-TERM ASSIGNMENTS?

We often think God only uses us in long-term, high-profile ways, but some of the most powerful things God does happen through brief, divine encounters.

✅ A smile to a grieving woman in the market.

✅ A prayer over a classmate at school 

✅ A word of encouragement to a stranger in a mall

✅ A conversation that saves someone from depression

✅ A compliment

✅ A volunteering service

✅ A call

📌 Don’t ignore these temporary assignments. Heaven is watching.

KEY REMINDERS FROM NEHEMIAH 8:16

1. The Assignment May Be Temporary, But the Impact is Eternal

– Those shelters didn’t last, but their obedience was recorded in Scripture.

2. God Uses Ordinary Materials for Divine Purposes.They used branches…nothing special. God can use your words, hugs, presence, or smile.

3. Be Usable Anywhere

….Whether on a rooftop, courtyard, or public square, they built.

You too must be usable in every environment.

🔥 PROPHETIC DECLARATION

🔥 I am sensitive to God’s instructions….even the brief ones in Jesus name!

🔥 I will not miss my assignment, no matter how short or simple it may seem in Jesus name.

🔥 I am a vessel ready for divine interruption and eternal impact.

🙏 PRAYER

Lord, make me sensitive. Help me not to despise the small instructions in Jesus name.

Use me for your glory…even if it’s for just one person, one moment, or one conversation in Jesus name.

Let me not walk past divine opportunities disguised as random encounters in Jesus name.

Make me a shelter of hope, even if only for a day.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

🛠️ TASK FOR TODAY:

Be alert. As you move through your day…at work, in the store, online, in church, in traffic…ask the Holy Spirit:

“Is there an assignment here for me?”

Then act with faith, knowing eternity may be waiting on your obedience.

📌 FINAL THOUGHT

God is not only looking for long-term missionaries, He is also looking for momentary messengers….those willing to obey quickly, act wisely, and move when prompted.

One short assignment could save a soul.

📖 Scripture: Nehemiah 8:16 – “So the people went out and brought back branches and built themselves temporary shelters…”
