Tolu had just returned from church when her phone buzzed with a group chat message. A few of her friends were mocking the pastor’s sermon.
“Can you imagine? That message was so shallow.”
“Exactly! He doesn’t even know how to preach.”
“Sometimes I wonder why we even pay offering at all.”
Tolu chuckled at first, but then her heart grew heavy. She remembered the countless times her pastor had visited families in crisis, prayed with the sick late into the night, and counseled youths who were about to give up on life.
It dawned on her: They weren’t mocking just a man—they were mocking the God who called him.
The Spirit whispered gently:
“My servants are not perfect, but they are Mine. When you honor them, you honor Me.”
From that day, Tolu resolved to shut down disrespectful conversations, to speak well of those who labored on the altar, and to pray for them regularly.
God places His servants in our lives to guide, feed, and nurture our faith. They may not always meet our human expectations, but the Word of God is clear: we are to honor, respect, and love them for their work’s sake.
When we dishonor the vessel, we dishonor the Sender. But when we honor them, we invite God’s peace into our lives and communities.
KEY SCRIPTURE:
Hebrews 13:17 – “Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they are keeping watch over your souls, as those who will have to give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.”
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, forgive me for every time I have disrespected or dishonored those You have placed over me.
2. Father, give me a humble heart to honor and love Your servants, even when I don’t fully understand them.
3. Lord, strengthen every minister of the Gospel around the world. Let their labor not be in vain.
