When Chidi first began his ministry, the crowd loved him. His messages went viral, his social media following grew, and invitations poured in from everywhere. People called him “Man of Grace” and “Firebrand.”

But a few years later, a misunderstanding in his church caused his reputation to crumble. The same people who once shouted his name disappeared. Some mocked him. Others simply moved on to the next rising preacher.

One night, broken and confused, Chidi cried out, “Lord, what happened? I thought they loved me!”

And the Holy Spirit whispered softly, “They didn’t love you, My son. They loved what you carried.”

The truth pierced his heart. He realized that the applause had never been about him — it was about the grace of God upon his life.

From that day, Chidi began to pray differently:
“Lord, help me never to lose the oil that draws people to You through me. Help me to guard the gift You’ve given me.

It’s a hard truth, most people are drawn to what you carry, not who you are. They are attracted to your wisdom, your beauty, your talent, or your anointing. But the moment the grace lifts, their attention fades.

That’s why you must treasure the grace of God more than human praise. The same voices that cry “Hosanna” can quickly shout “Crucify him.”

Potiphar’s wife didn’t love Joseph — she loved his anointing, his presence, and the excellence he carried. When he refused her advances, her love turned to hatred.

So, don’t build your confidence on people’s approval. Guard your anointing. Protect your grace. Stay humble and close to the One who gave it.

Because when the cheers fade, it is only God’s presence that will remain.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Genesis 39:2–3 (NIV) – “The Lord was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the Lord was with him and that the Lord gave him success in everything he did…”

PRAYER POINTS:
1️⃣ Lord, help me to value Your presence above people’s applause.
2️⃣ Father, preserve the anointing upon my life — let me never lose what makes me useful in Your kingdom.
3️⃣ Lord, give me discernment to know those who truly love me and those who only love what I carry.
4️⃣ Holy Spirit, help me to guard the grace, wisdom, and favor You’ve placed upon my life.
