‘DON’T ENVY THEIR SPEED’
A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Bisola sat in her car outside the wedding venue, hands on the steering wheel, eyes fixed on the entrance. She wasn’t there to attend, she just couldn’t resist seeing it with her own eyes.
Irene was getting married. Irene, who proudly told anyone who cared to listen that her goal was to “enjoy the marriage, not endure it”, code for having other options. Irene, who had joked countless times about men being “ATM cards.”
Bisola, on the other hand, had waited. She had honored God. No shortcuts. No scandals. No broken principles.
Now she was 36, single, and holding another wedding invite that wasn’t hers.
“It doesn’t make sense,” she whispered.
But deep in her spirit, another whisper came:
“Their speed is not your standard. Their path is not your pattern. Wait for Me.”
Sometimes it looks like evil wins.
Sometimes it seems like compromise pays.
But that’s only for now.
Psalms 73 describes this inner wrestling: the wicked flourish, they have no struggles, they wear pride like jewelry, yet their end is ruin.
You may be asking:
- Why do the dishonest rise so quickly?
- Why do the disloyal get married first?
- Why do those who mocked purity seem to be winning?
Here’s the truth: you’re not losing. You’re being built.
God doesn’t do fast food destinies, He prepares full-course stories. And when yours is ready, it will be worth the wait.
So don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t make sense now. One day, it will.
KEY SCRIPTURES:
- “Surely you place them on slippery ground; you cast them down to ruin.” – Psalm 73:18
- “The wicked freely strut about when what is vile is honored among men.” – Psalm 12:8

PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, help me not to envy the prosperity of those who ignore Your ways.
2. Keep me grounded in faith, even when life doesn’t seem fair.
3. Father, let my story be proof that waiting on You is never wasted.
