DO WE REALLY KNOW HIM?

I was going about my normal routine,
not fasting,
not praying,
not expecting anything unusual.

Then suddenly, I paused.

My eyes lifted without intention, and what I saw made my breath hitch.
The sky seemed alive.
The clouds shifted into forms too deliberate to ignore, layers moving with purpose,
figures forming and dissolving,
like activity beyond human scheduling.

I stood still.
My body trembled.
Not from fear alone, but from awareness.

In that moment, a truth struck me with force:
Life is far deeper than what our eyes report.
There is a realm we cannot access with logic,
a reality that runs parallel to ours,
governed by a power far beyond human control.

My heart whispered a question I could not escape:
“Do you really know Him?”

And painfully, honestly, the answer came—
“Not as much as you think.”

God is not an idea we manage.
He is not a concept we explain away.
He is not small enough to fit into our comfort zones or doctrines.

No image can represent Him.
No structure can contain Him.
The One who authored existence cannot be reduced to something created.

I suddenly understood that we are not owners of life, we are permitted occupants.
Living on borrowed time.
Breathing by grace.
Existing because He allows it.

In that awareness, I remembered Paul, a man who saw visions, worked miracles, and still declared:
“That I may know Him…”

If Paul still longed to know Him,
how dare I assume I already do?

So my prayer changed.
Not for things.
Not for answers.
But for revelation.

“Lord, unfold Yourself to me.
Strip away familiarity.
Let me never grow casual with Your presence.
And when my days are done,
let my eyes finally behold
who You truly are.”

Knowing about God is not the same as knowing God.
Familiarity can dull reverence.
Routine can replace awe.

But every now and then, God interrupts our normal lives
to remind us that He is far bigger than our understanding.

Let your heart hunger again.
Let wonder return.
Let knowing Him become your greatest pursuit.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Jeremiah 9:23–24 –
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom… but let the one who boasts boast about this: that they have the understanding to know Me.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, remove every false familiarity that makes me take You lightly.

Father, awaken my heart to desire deeper knowledge of You.

Lord, reveal Yourself to me beyond what I think I already know.
