CHAPTER NINETEEN “CONVINCED”

Imade’s POV
We slowed near the hotel entrance.
Not because the walk had ended… but because something else had arrived.
Clarity.
Daniel stopped first.
He looked resolved.
“Imade,” he said quietly, calling my name the way people do when they are about to be honest… not kind.
I turned fully to him.
“I need to say something before this moment becomes confusing,” he continued.
“And before you misunderstand me.”
I waited.
“I won’t cross that line with a married woman,” he said plainly.
“Not because I’m holy… and not because I’m scared… but because I don’t live well with lies.”
The word settled heavily between us.
Lie.
“This isn’t about attraction,” he went on.
“That part is obvious. We are attracted to each other. It happens.”
He paused, choosing his words with care.
“But attraction is not the problem. Avoidance is.”
I looked away.
“You know,” he said softly, “you can meet someone for one day and feel like you’ve known them for a lifetime…”
My chest tightened.
“…and you can live with someone for years and still feel like you’re sharing space with a stranger.”
That one hurt.
Not because it was cruel… but because it was accurate.
“But,” Daniel continued, “I’m not interested in being your escape.
And I’m not interested in being your justification.”
He stepped back slightly… not away from me, but away from the edge.
“What I want,” he said, “is for you to stop living a life you don’t believe in.”
I swallowed.
“You don’t even know me,” I said quietly.
He smiled faintly.
“I know enough. You’re not dishonest.
You’re just trapped… and trying to escape.”
Silence followed.
He wasn’t offering himself outrightly.
He was offering truth… and refusing to sweeten it.
“If you stay married,” he said calmly,
“stay because it’s real… not because it’s expected.”
“And if you leave,” he added,
“leave clean. Leave honestly. Don’t drag the past into your next chapter.”
My phone buzzed in my hand.
Teju.
Daniel noticed.
“That’s your life calling,” he said gently.
“Answer it. Or don’t. But don’t mute it forever.”
He turned toward the hotel entrance, then paused.
“For what it’s worth,” he said without looking back,
“whatever you decide… decide in daylight.
The night is a beautiful time to spend with a friend in this city.”
And with that, he walked away.
Not wounded.
Not dramatic.
Just intact.
I stood there long after he was gone.
His words didn’t leave with him.
They stayed… rearranging things inside me.
And then, like an echo I hadn’t invited, Beauty’s voice crept in.
“Listen Imade… you don’t have to love a man to be his wife.
Play your role. All the roles.
Then find yourself a man you can pour your love into.”
I had laughed that day.
Laughed like someone being handed permission to sin and calling it wisdom.
At the time, Beauty had sounded bold.
Liberated.
Smart.
Now, standing alone in a foreign city, with no one forcing my choices… her advice felt on point.
Beauty had let go of her rich old man, yes.
And she had walked into her version of truth.
She had stopped living a lie…
Stop living a life you don’t believe in.
Daniel’s words surfaced again.
My phone buzzed.
Teju.
I looked at his name and for the first time, I didn’t feel anger.
I felt exposed.
“Imade, we need to talk. Not later. Today.”
My heart tightened.
This wasn’t courtesy.
This was confrontation.
I sat down slowly on the hotel couch.
It suddenly became clear.
It wasn’t Teju that scared me.
It was the possibility that if I stopped pretending…
I might lose everything.

If you don’t hold on to the truth you believe in Christ, someone else will preach another message that looks like the truth (original).
Satan doesn’t specialise in 100% lies. He gives you 90% truth garnished it with 10% lies. Then present it in a more subtle way.
Hmm!
This Daniel of a guy sef…
Thank you so much mummy
Watching 🤫

It is well I made
The fact that Daniel was an unbeliever is still a turn off for me. He spoke with great wisdom though.
Replying to @Stephen Victoria
Exactly. He has been a turn off since the universe talk! If I was imade, and I had any affection for him before, it dies right there. Nothing he says, or do, will change anything.
Period!

I believe that knows what he wants, he is just being subtle and calculative. He knows he got Imade’s attention, and that she is vulnerable. He is going to use that part on her…

Imade herself is not completely born again. Someone that gives in to Beauty advice. What makes you think she won’t give in to Daniel.
She is tired of obedience. She wants her own mind. Do has she pleases. She has forgotten the part of consequence
Wow is becoming more interesting. I can’t wait for today’s chapter
Wow ,I love the silence
Imade better be real
I can’t wait for today’s story 😁☺️☺️
Hmmm so Daniel is harmless all along
Okay let’s see where this ends
Daniel doesn’t seem to be the villain here.. Hmmmm.. I’m still keeping my fingers crossed.
Hmmmm. So much to swallow
Still trying to find out Daniel’s role in Imades life
Life indeed is full of choices
Great truth
