He jerked awake, startled to find my eyes fixed on him. He sat up quickly, like a guilty man caught. His chest heaved, his eyes narrowed in suspicion. “Why are you staring at me like that?”

His voice cut through the silence, sharp, defensive. “You know you cannot kill me, right? I am divinity. I am untouchable.”

I did not blink. I did not flinch. My eyes held his, steady and calm, even though inside, my heart hammered so violently it felt like it would shatter my ribs.

“Father,” I whispered, my voice soft like oil on water, “I wasn’t staring to harm you. I was staring because I realized something… His brows rose, suspicion and pride wrestling in his gaze. I pressed my hand lightly to my chest, lowering my eyes as if in reverence.

“I promise you,” I continued, my voice trembling just enough to sound sincere, “I will be your best Eve. The one who will not fail you. The one who will carry your burdens without dropping them. I know the weight of greatness is heavy… but I am here to make it lighter.”

His posture softened slightly, but I knew it wasn’t enough. I leaned closer, my words sweet but deliberate, weaving around his ears like a song. “Father… your deepest secrets are safe with me. I know no man of God lives without his crosses, his sacrifices. I have served men of God; I have seen their hidden weaknesses.

I have carried their burdens silently, without judgment. I understand, Father. You are safe with me.” His eyes searched mine, his suspicion flickering, his pride slowly swelling again. I pressed further. “If what Cordelia said tonight…” I hesitated, lowering my gaze, “if it were true… about the other girls… then I am okay with it.

Because maybe, Father, you needed spiritual strength, and that was the path you took. Who am I to question divinity?

All I ask…”
I lifted my eyes, letting them glisten with devotion, “…all I ask is to remain close to you. If you let me move into your quarters, people will know Cordelia’s words were nothing but lies. It will silence the murmurs. It will strengthen your image.”

The words hung in the air like incense. My heart pounded so loudly I feared he could hear it. He stared at me for a long moment. His gaze was unreadable, his expression caught between suspicion, intrigue, and something I couldn’t’t name.

His lips parted slightly as if to speak, but no words came. Then suddenly, without a word, he stood. His robe rustled as he walked to the door. I sat frozen, my chest tightening. The door opened. He stepped out. And just like that… he was gone. I sat there trembling, my hands clasped so tightly my nails dug into my palms.

My breath came in short bursts. “Lord…” I whispered, “…did I play it well, or did I dig my own grave?” The silence that followed was suffocating.

  1. Divinity my foot….this is the beginning of the end of you Father Soji. I only wish you can repent but considering how deep you’ve gone I doubt it. Though there’s nothing God cannot do,cos I wouldn’t want Mabel to be a young widow. I trust that she will marry you nonetheless.
God continue to increase you Sis Opeyemi, this dimension you took us through the wings of the Holyspirit is not predictable and eyeopener for us all. There are many Sojis in our midst like a sheep but they’re wolves,we Christians needs to arise like Mabel to defend God’s Cause.
Oh God bless me so I can have money to buy the soft copy….Thank You so much ma, I’m loving you more day by day.

  2. This is more than a story, it is deep revelations, I couldn’t stop reading. I pray that the lord will expose the works of darkness in Jesus name.

    1. Replying to @Oluwatunmise Akinpade

Reading Cordelia has opened my eyes to see that every passage of life you pass through, God intentionally allow you to for a greater cause ahead. See how Marbel has been a great tool in submitting to mummy GO. Years of training has not gone to waste. She knew the struggle of Men of God and their strength.

At the point, Mummy Opeyemi all I can say is thank you for yielding and opening the eyes of many through your writing.

  4. She has been on the training field like David, before confronting Goliath.
I’m learning s lot from her, especially the prayer aspect..
Despite her knowledge and stuffs, she did not mean on her own understanding. Help me, Oh Lord.
    More grace ma
