CHAPTER 25 “CORDELIA”

My scream echoed back at me, swallowed by the tiled corridor.

The body hung lifelessly in that first room like meat on a butcher’s hook. Roasted. Darkened. Human.

My chest burned as I struggled to breathe. My palms shook so badly I thought I would collapse. Every cell in me wanted to run, but the invisible force pushed me on.

“Why am I here? Lord, what is this?” I whispered, but no answer came.

With legs heavier than stones, I dragged myself away from the horror of the first room and let the unseen hand lead me to the next.

The second door opened.

And what I saw broke me in ways I can never explain.

Tables. Metal tables lined in perfect rows. On them…human bodies. Not whole, no. Pieces. Dismembered. Arms stacked. Legs arranged. Chests open and emptied. Everything dissected like they were nothing more than animals in a laboratory.

Each part was tagged with little white labels… typed marking… Left Arm, Thigh, Kidney..e.t.c. Tears flowed from my eyes… Human bodies dissected like that of animals…

Transparent Refrigerators lined the walls…I saw clear bags inside, organs neatly sealed, stacked in piles. I staggered forward, my hand grabbing a fridge door just to keep standing. My stomach turned…My eyes caught different small white slips pasted on the bags…For Sale… For the Fold…For Father!

I gagged. My stomach twisted violently. I bent over and retched, but nothing came out except dry heaves and tears.

Who could do this? Who could buy this?

The force didn’t let me stay. I stumbled backward, hitting the cold wall of the corridor. My body had become numb, yet I was still walking. Still moving. Still seeing.

And I knew…I wasn’t done yet.

*****

My whole body trembled as my hand touched the knob of the third door. I didn’t want to open it. Everything in me screamed to run, but my hand turned the knob anyway, as though another hand covered mine.

The door opened, and the smell hit me first.

Raw….mixed with something Metallic. The stench of fresh blood mixed with iron and grease. My stomach lurched violently.

Machines filled the room. Big, ugly machines. Their mouths wide, their teeth sharp. They looked like giant beasts frozen in place, waiting to be fed. I recognized one instantly ..A grinder..but it was a giant one… My head immediately told me what it was probably used for but my heart refused to acknowledge it.

Blood streaks painted the edges of the grinding machine. Clumps of reddish flesh stuck in its blades. I staggered closer, my eyes wide, heart pounding like it wanted to escape my chest.

” My God!”

Then I saw the trays.

Trays upon trays, lined with minced meat. At first glance, it looked ordinary…like suya meat, or the minced beef you’d see in supermarkets. But my spirit screamed the truth: this wasn’t cow. This wasn’t goat. It was human. God! ABEG…Hot tears poured out uncontrollably from my eyes…

” Who chops human beings like cow meat? My God! Where am I ?”

The floor tilted under me. My legs wobbled, but the invisible force wouldn’t let me fall. Instead, it dragged me to the corner of the room.

There, stacked in a big industrial freezer, were transparent sacks… Dozens of them. Each filled with ground human flesh, tied and labeled with dates. Ready for distribution.

“Jesus… Oh, Jesus…” My voice broke into a whisper. My throat burned as bile rose, but I swallowed it down.

Tears blurred my vision. My body wanted to collapse, but I was still being pulled. Forced to look. Forced to know.

The whir of a machine startled me..I hadn’t realized one was still running. It had a timer set. It showed it still had to work for 25 minutes. That would be about the time the devotion would be ending. It meant whoever was in charge or those in charge were attending the morning devotion, I couldn’t believe the saints we lifted holy hands together were part of this. The blades spun slowly, humming like a devil’s lullaby. On the side table lay bones. Human bones. Picked clean. Some looked small. Some too small. Children? I saw another machine that was obviously grinding the human bones too into powder…

I slapped my hand over my mouth to stifle the scream clawing its way out of me.

The room was a slaughterhouse disguised as a factory. Flesh wasn’t flesh anymore…it had become “product.”

” God! Why is the heart of man desperately wicked?Did the people of Sodom and Gomorrah do up to this?” I wailed…

My knees gave way at last. I dropped to the ground, clutching my stomach, rocking back and forth. “My Father…This cannot be real. Lord, tell me this is a dream. Please!”

But the walls didn’t answer. The machines didn’t answer. Only the smell of blood answered.

The invisible force wasn’t done with me. My body rose again like a puppet on strings, dragging me out into the corridor.

Another door waited. Another painful revelation…
Another wickedness exposition…
