COME OUT OF EGYPT

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Evelyn had always been a church girl — choir rehearsals, Sunday school, youth fellowships — she was passionate about using her voice for God. But somewhere along the way, the bright lights of fame lured her in. Now, her songs topped charts across Africa, but deep down, she knew she no longer sang for the One who gave her the gift.

Across the ocean, Tunde worked long hours in a foreign land. He once believed moving abroad was his ticket out of hardship. Yet, years later, he was still stuck — working multiple jobs, living in a crowded apartment, and feeling emptier than ever.

Meanwhile, Chioma, after years of waiting for a child, turned to strange altars for help. Each visit promised results, but her peace grew thinner by the day.

Different stories. Same message.
They had all found themselves in modern-day Egypt — a place of temporary comfort, worldly glamour, and silent spiritual decay.

Then one night, Evelyn couldn’t sleep. She kept hearing one verse echoing in her heart:

“When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.” — Hosea 11:1

Tears rolled down her face. “God still wants me?” she whispered.

And the Holy Spirit replied gently,
“Yes, My daughter. I still have a passion for you. I want you out of Egypt. Come home and fulfill your destiny.”

Like Evelyn, there are many God still loves passionately — children who once served Him but have drifted away into Egypt for fame, survival, or comfort. Egypt looks glamorous, but it’s not home. Every divine stay there has an expiry date.

Even Jesus, Joseph, and Moses were once in Egypt — but only for a while. They had to leave to fulfill God’s plan.

Egypt represents any place or lifestyle that pulls you away from God — where compromise feels easier than obedience. God is still calling His sons and daughters to return. He has a passion for His own — not to condemn, but to restore.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Hosea 11:1 (NIV) — “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.”
Romans 8:19 (KJV) — “For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, deliver me from every modern-day Egypt that keeps me far from You.

Holy Spirit, open my eyes to see where I’ve compromised and give me grace to return home.

Father, call back every prodigal child still trapped in Egypt — restore them to their divine destiny.

Use me, Lord, to bring others out of their own Egypts into Your marvelous light.
