The market was buzzing that afternoon when Kemi overheard two women arguing near a stall. One of them, visibly angry, shouted at the other, “May your child suffer the way you’ve made me suffer!”

The other woman, equally upset, replied, “God forbid! Leave my child out of this!”

The words hung in the air like smoke — thick, toxic, and destructive. Everyone around fell silent. Kemi’s heart raced. How easily people released words capable of shaping destinies — words that could either bless or curse the future of an innocent child.

That night, as Kemi reflected on what she had witnessed, the Holy Spirit whispered:
“Be careful of what is spoken in anger. The enemy knows if he can’t get to you, he’ll target your seed.”

She remembered Noah and Ham — how Ham disrespected his father, and yet Noah’s words didn’t fall on Ham, but on his son, Canaan (Genesis 9:25). The curse passed through the bloodline, showing that careless actions and words can echo through generations.

Kemi knelt to pray, weeping for every parent who had ignorantly exposed their children to spoken curses, and for every child unknowingly carrying the weight of a parent’s conflict. She prayed,
“Lord, break every curse spoken against my seed. Let no careless word spoken in anger find root in my children’s lives.”

She understood now: spiritual attacks often disguise themselves as mere words. And the best way to fight back isn’t argument — it’s intercession.

Parents, guard your children through prayer. Watch your words and the words spoken around them. The enemy knows your children carry your joy — and he’ll target them to get to you. Protect their destinies through the power of your tongue and your prayers.

Proverbs 26:2 (NIV) – “Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest.”
Genesis 9:25 (NIV) – “Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers.”

Lord, deliver my children from every curse or negative word spoken against them.

Father, silence every voice speaking failure into my family’s destiny.

Holy Spirit, help me to guard my tongue and use it to bless, not destroy.

Every power targeting my children to hurt me — fail in Jesus’ name!
