they are connected to Daddy’s paintings. Morayo, there’s blood attached to them.”

She frowned deeply, skepticism shadowing her features.

“ Who is Wasiu and Fola? Which other deaths happened?” She was obviously lost.
“Overnight, my Security man died, and… Setemi’s first daughter Fola is dead”

“How.. My God!?”

I told her everything… I told her about Calling Aunty Favour Mistakenly and she praying for me. I told her the dream that followed the prayer…my dream of the bleeding painting, the warning voice I kept hearing.

Morayo listened, arms crossed, her face paled.

“I’ve been hearing things too,” Morayo said quietly.

” Since I was brought here last night, I have been hearing words…words like blood cries louder than inheritance… stolen colours. I thought I was just losing my mind.”

I shook my head.
“No, Morayo. It’s real. And it’s not just haunting you. It’s chasing all of us.”

We stayed silent for a while, but the Police was came to end our party…

“ Madam, it’s time up” He said…

“I’ll call a lawyer friend to help you,” I said finally. “But Morayo… you have to pray. You have to.”

She nodded weakly, the old fire dimming in her.

I left the station with a heavier heart than when I entered.

Next, I drove to Setemi’s house.

As I entered the compound, the atmosphere slapped me in the face — a thick, choking grief.

Women sat outside murmuring prayers.
Children sobbed quietly.
Men leaned against the walls, helpless.

Inside, it was worse.

Setemi sat on the floor in the living room, her face hollow, her clothes wrinkled. Her eyes — oh, her eyes! They were red and swollen, like she had cried rivers overnight.

Her husband sat stiffly on a chair, his hands gripping his knees, his face buried in silent grief.

The surviving children huddled together like lost sheep.

And there was an emptiness…an absence that screamed louder than any words.

Fola was gone.

“How does a child sleep perfectly fine…and scream…and die?” Setemi repeated over and over, her voice broken.
I approached carefully.

“Setemi…” I whispered.

She didn’t respond.

I sat beside her, hugged her tight….No reaction…It was as if her soul had checked out.

I pulled away, my heart breaking.
I caught Pamilerin’s eye across the room. She gave me a small nod.
We both knew we had to talk.
I signaled her and we slipped outside.

Under the mango tree, I told Pamilerin everything — my dream, Morayo’s situation, the police report, the blood connection to the paintings.

At first, Pamilerin stared at me blankly.

Then, slowly, her expression changed.

“Wait…” she said, her voice shaking. “Now that you say it…I remember…I had a dream too that night! I was drowning in a pool of blood…and paintings floated around me. But I thought it was just because of the stress!”

She clutched her arms tightly around herself, fear blooming in her eyes.

Before I could respond, we heard a small voice.

We turned.

Setemi’s second daughter stood behind the tree, twisting her fingers nervously.

She stepped forward, her eyes wide and scared.

“I heard you talking…” she whispered.

Pamilerin and I exchanged a worried glance.

“What did you hear?” I asked gently.

“I…” the girl sniffed, “I have been having strange dreams too.”

She wiped her nose on her sleeve.

“And…” she hesitated.

“Speak, sweetheart,” I encouraged.

The girl stepped forward, her eyes wide and scared.

“I…” the girl sniffed, “I had a strange dream last night after the paintings came into the house. I saw blood dripping from paintings and people screaming. It was shortly after that that Fola screamed from her sleep and didn…didn..t wak..eee up again… I want my sister back” She said crying as she kept wiping her nose on her sleeve. “ And I think it’s because…Mummy hid those paintings in Fola’s room.” My heart dropped to my stomach.

The same paintings. The Pattern of the paintings entering a house and taking a life…Innocent lives being taken.

Oh God!

I looked at Pamilerin, whose mouth was hanging open in horror.

We had to act fast.

We couldn’t let the darkness spread further.

We couldn’t let Fola’s death be in vain.

But first…
We needed to snap Setemi out of her misery …before another tragedy struck.
