‘NO GOING BACK’

I will never forget the night I got a frantic call from Bisi.
Her voice trembled.
“Can you come? I don’t trust myself tonight.”

I rushed to her apartment. She was sitting on the floor, hugging her knees, her phone lying shattered by the wall.

Between sobs, the story came out.
It was the same pattern, meet a man, get swept off her feet, rush into physical intimacy, get abandoned, fall into despair.

I had watched this cycle repeat too many times. But that night, I couldn’t just comfort her, I had to confront her.

“Bisi, aren’t you tired? Every time you go back to what God has delivered you from, it breaks you even more. You’ve seen the result, it never ends well. Why not try it God’s way this time?”

That conversation became a turning point. Bisi surrendered her relationships to God, set boundaries, and filled her days with prayer, service, and purpose.

Six months later, she met Tunde,va man who valued her worth, respected her walk with God, and waited until the wedding day to express his love physically.

The morning after her wedding, I got a text:
“It worked. God’s way works. Thank you.”

Like Bisi, many of us have habits, relationships, or patterns that God has already rescued us from, yet we return thinking “maybe this time will be different.”

But going back to what God pulled you out of is like patching up a leaking boat, you’ll still sink.

Scripture says:

“As a dog returns to its vomit, so fools repeat their folly.” – Proverbs 26:11

Your old ways will always lead to your old wounds. The only way forward is to stay forward.

1. Lord, help me break free from every destructive cycle in my life.

2. Give me the strength to resist the pull of my old ways.

3. Fill me with Your Spirit so I can walk in purity, purpose, and wisdom.
