‘WHEN THE GROUND SHIFTS’

It was meant to be their year of rest.

After 15 years in ministry, Pastor Joel and his wife had finally bought land for a home. Just when construction began, the worst happened, an anonymous petition, a frozen bank account, and the tragic loss of their only son in an accident.

Everything around them shifted like sand in an earthquake.

“We gave everything to God. Why is He silent now?” his wife cried one night.

But Joel eyes sunken, yet spirit steady, replied,
“We never built this house on ease. We built it on the Rock.”

That night, he opened his Bible to Matthew 7:24–25, and read aloud:
“The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew… but it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.”

They wept, but they worshipped.
They mourned, but they trusted.

Months passed. The case was dropped. The account was released. And though their son wasn’t returned, their faith stood firmer than ever.

Life will test your foundation.

Floods will come, loss, betrayal, disappointment, delay. But only those whose hearts are anchored in Christ will remain standing when the ground beneath them shifts.

Sand may seem smooth and comfortable, but it’s unstable. A life built on convenience, emotion, or people will not withstand the storms.

But a life built on the Solid Rock, Jesus is unshakeable.

Your job may change.
People may walk away.
Dreams may feel delayed.

But your Rock remains.

1. Lord, help me build my life on you, my Solid Rock.

2. When life shakes me, let your Word be my steady ground.

3. I renounce fear and choose to trust you through every flood.
