CHAPTER 35 “CORDELIA”

In that moment, it felt like the earth should open up and swallow me alive.
My ears rang. My chest caved in. My breath caught in my throat.
Cordelia.
He said Cordelia.
Was he joking? Was this some cruel trick to measure my loyalty?
Or had he already found me out? Because why else would he ask me to end Cordelia…the very reason I had come to The Fold?
Cordelia was my mission. My burden. My daughter in the Lord. I had prayed for her, mentored her, wept for her. Every step I had taken into this pit of hell was because of her.
And now he wanted me to kill her? But as if he had heard the screaming in my mind, his voice cut through me like a blade.
“I know you came here to rescue Cordelia from us,” he said, his eyes burning with a twisted certainty. “But you didn’t know the Lord had other plans for you. For me to fully trust you as my Eve,
you must cast Cordelia into the fire.
Even God gave up His only
Son to gain the world. You must let go of Cordelia so you can be the Mother of all.”
The room spun. His words wrapped around me like chains, heavy and suffocating.
Tears poured out of me like a flood. My whole body shook. My heart raced until it hurt. I wished it was all a dream. I touched myself to be sure I was awake.
I bent my head, whispering desperately in my spirit. “Holy
Spirit… what do I do? Please, show me…” Silence. Heaven was silent. And then he struck again, quoting scripture, stabbing it into my
already bleeding heart. “Whoever does not leave his father or mother is not fit for the Kingdom.”
I broke down. My heart cried…but my head was bowed, so he would not see the tears, pouring in torrents.
My heart screamed inside me. My chest heaved so violently I could barely hold myself upright. This was a test. I knew it. And if I failed…if I so much as He leaned closer, his tone shifting, his voice now calm, almost tender. “I like you,” he said.
“In fact, I feel something deeper for you. That’s why I won’t watch you be destroyed. Cast Cordelia into the lake of fire, and I will trust you.”
I wept harder. “Lord, speak to me. Please…” But heaven gave no sound. I remembered the many men and women of God I had worked with. I knew their ways. I knew how quickly they judged hearts.
Hesitation was rebellion. Your first reaction was what
mattered most. My delay was dangerous. My mind raced. “Strike him now!” But how?
With what?
If I failed,
he would overpower me. He could kill me before my next breath. If I let go of Cordelia, I will gain his trust. If I gain his trust, I will buy time. If I buy time, maybe I can save the rest.
The thought tore me apart. Cordelia’s face flashed in my mind…her smile, her laughter, her questions. “How am I so sure this is not a test to know if I will be a callous Eve?” I asked through sobs. My voice shook as I added, “If I obey
you and end Cordelia, how am I sure I won’t be the next?”
He smirked, confident, unflinching. “As long as you obey me, you can never be wrong.”
I bent my head again, my body trembling, torrents of tears flooding down my cheeks. My chest heaved with sobs.
I remembered the human butchery… I could not save everyone here if I died. “Though I would ordinarily not do this,” I whispered hoarsely, “and though I may cry many nights after this… I will do whatever my Lord asks of me. Great Responsibility comes with great sacrifice” But inside, my soul screamed: “My God, my God, why hast Thou
forsaken me?” And in that cry, I felt the tiny reflection of Christ’s pain. Jesus,
giving His life for mankind. In that moment, I saw myself at Gethsemane and Calvary put together… here was I, being forced to give up the life of a girl I had mentored, trained, prayed for, and
loved like a daughter. The grief nearly broke me in two.
Then he struck again, tightening the noose with another mind- bending statement. “Cordelia going is for your own good. As Eve, you don’t need someone who knows your past and may disrespect your authority. Let her go, and your throne will be secure.”
Fresh sobs ripped through me. I bit my lip until I tasted blood. My body shook violently, my tears blinding me. “When do we do it? And how?” I croaked at last, my voice flat, hollow, strangled. Though I didn’t look up, I could feel his victory.. “You will do it right away. I will ask for an emergency assembly.
Tell a holy lie against Cordelia, and have her sent into the lake of fire. That way, your authority as Mother Eve will be established.”
“Holy lie…” I repeated, my tears spilling harder. The words stabbed me deeper than any sword could. I bent forward, clutching my stomach, rocking in anguish. My controlled sobs filled the room like a funeral dirge. Cordelia… I am sorry. You should have listened to me.
You shouldn’t have come looking for power and rhema. If only you had stayed at home with your Bible, stayed in the church that raised you, tested and trusted, you would not be here. Forgive me, my daughter. Forgive me. The walls blurred through my tears. The floor shook under my trembling body. And above me, Father Soji stood tall, proud, satisfied…already
plotting how to parade me before the saints as Mother Eve, the chosen bride, the obedient queen.
But all I felt was death crawling over my skin. Because I had just agreed to betray the one person I came here to
save.
“Before we go for the assembly, can I privately mourn her please”
I said as the tears flowed without an end…
