Last night on my way home, I looked up at the sky from my car window and paused for a moment. The stars, where were they?

Only a handful dotted the night sky, like flickers of forgotten dreams. I remember how, as a child, I would lie on a mat outside and count dozens, if not hundreds. The stars used to dazzle the heavens. Now, just a few brave ones push through the darkness.

It made me wonder: Where did the stars go?

And immediately, I understood those stars represent us. You. Me. Every human carrying divine potential. Remember how the wise men located Jesus by His star? That wasn’t just symbolic. Heaven knows every life has a star, visible, traceable, and destined to shine.

So if our stars are meant to shine, why does the sky seem empty today?

First, some stars have been hidden by self-inflicted darkness. Sin wraps the light in shadows. When we compromise truth, flirt with unrighteousness, or neglect God’s presence, we unknowingly dim our own light. And don’t be deceived, visibility is not always authenticity. Some people shine like stars, but they’re merely satellites, man-made sources of light that imitate but lack divine origin.

Second, there are external battles. Just as Herod sought to kill the infant Jesus and bury His star before His destiny unfolded, so do dark forces target promising lives. They know the power of a rising star and will stop at nothing to bring it down. Some stars fade, some get swallowed, and some are forced into silence before they ever get the chance to shine.

But there’s hope.

Genesis 1:2–3 shows us a model: when darkness covered the deep, God commanded light to shine. He didn’t negotiate with the darkness, He displaced it. That same authority is in your mouth.

Speak light. Command the darkness to disappear. Your star must shine, not in a shallow, worldly way, but as a beacon of God’s glory and purpose on earth.

PRAY:
Every cloud of darkness covering my star, clear away in the name of Jesus!

I command my God-given star to arise and shine brightly, in Jesus’ name.

When your star shines:

Your business attracts divine favor.

Your gifts find visibility.

Your spouse sees you among millions.

Your voice becomes relevant in your generation.

The world is waiting for your light. Don’t settle for the shadows.
