“WHEN THE CLOCK STOPPED”

As Inspired by The LIVING WORD

Lola used to sit by her window each evening, watching planes fly over her home in Enugu, whispering to herself:
“One day, I’ll fly without wings.”

That statement wasn’t about travel; it was her hopeful way of reminding herself about the rapture, a concept her late mother never stopped talking about.

She had lived differently from her peers. No shortcuts, no compromise, no reckless indulgence. She was mocked, ridiculed, and even rejected by a man she thought loved her.

Eventually, after losing her job for refusing to falsify financial records, she snapped.
“I’ve waited and suffered enough. Maybe it’s all a scam.”

She let go. One party, one wrong friendship, one compromise at a time… and then the world changed overnight.

There were loud crashes, screaming everywhere. The skies had turned grey with streaks of piercing light. People vanished in their thousands, including the very woman who used to call her “Sister Lola” mockingly.

She ran to the church but the pews were empty. Her body trembled as reality hit.
She wasn’t in the flight.
She missed it.

Now, at the abandoned airport, the new regime scanned people for the mark of access. Lola knew she couldn’t get it… but she also knew she couldn’t run forever.

The rapture had come—and so had judgment.
“I should never have gotten tired of waiting…” she whispered.

DEVOTIONAL LESSON:

“The Lord is not slack concerning His promise… but is longsuffering… not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.” – 2 Peter 3:9

No matter how long the wait seems, no matter how dark the world gets, hold on to your faith
Don’t sell eternity for temporary pleasure.
Don’t exchange your place for a plate.

PRAYER POINTS:

  1. Lord, strengthen my faith in seasons of silence; help me wait in hope.
  2. Keep me rapturable, Jesus. Let no pleasure, pain, or pressure pull me away from You.
  3. When You come, may I be among the ones who fly without wings. Amen.

REMEMBER:
The world may change, time may feel slow, but God’s Word never fails.

The trumpet will sound.
Stay Watchful. Stay Ready. Stay Faithful.
