WHEN PROPHECY MEETS DILIGENCE

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

The entire town was buzzing the morning Tunde was born. His parents could hardly contain their joy when the visiting prophet declared, “This child will be a voice to nations. His name will be heard across borders!”

From that day, everyone called him “Tunde the Great.” People whispered blessings whenever they saw him, and his mother would smile proudly as if destiny itself lived in her arms.

But in the same neighborhood, another baby was born, Femi. No prophecy, no crowd, no excitement. Just a simple birth and a quiet life.

As the years passed, Tunde grew up basking in the glow of his prophecy. He often reminded others, “I’m destined for greatness.” But while he talked about destiny, Femi worked toward it. Tunde spent most days idly waiting for the promised greatness to find him, while Femi learned, studied, and labored quietly in his father’s small workshop.

Decades later, the tables had turned. Tunde was known in town but not for greatness. He lived off others’ pity and told old stories about the prophecy that once made him special.
Meanwhile, Femi had become a respected businessman. His hard work, honesty, and discipline had brought prosperity not just to himself, but to many others.

When an old prophet visited the town years later, he sighed deeply when he heard of Tunde’s fate. “Prophecy may open the door,” he said, “but diligence keeps it open.”

Beloved, God’s promise is true but prophecy without effort is like a seed never planted. Greatness doesn’t grow in laziness. Every divine word still requires human responsibility.

Even Jesus, though called Savior of the world, spent years learning, serving, and obeying before His glory was revealed. The promise is your starting point; diligence is your path.

Don’t just celebrate what God has said work toward what He has spoken.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Proverbs 22:29 – “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, thank You for every promise and prophecy spoken over my life.

Father, give me the strength and discipline to work diligently toward the fulfillment of Your word.

Lord, let my effort and obedience align with Your will, that I may see Your greatness manifest in my life.
