“WHEN MERCY REMEMBERS”
©Opeyemi Akintunde
As Inspired by The LIVING WORD
It was 2:17 a.m. when Ade’s phone rang. Groggy, he answered.
“Hello?”
“Mr. Adekunle?”
“Yes…”
“This is Chief Oludare… I’m calling from the Teaching Hospital. Your son was just rushed in after an accident. I’ve authorized immediate surgery, my daughter says you once paid her school fees without ever knowing her name.”
Ade froze. He remembered. Years ago, a friend’s niece couldn’t return to school due to fees. He gave the money anonymously.
Now, the help he had sown in silence had returned with a voice.
Meanwhile, in Scripture:
A centurion’s servant lay dying but Jesus answered immediately when Jewish elders testified: “He loves our nation and has built us a synagogue.” (Luke 7:1–10)
Cornelius was a man of prayers and alms. One day, heaven interrupted Peter’s routine to send help to Cornelius. Why? “Your prayers and alms have come up as a memorial before God.” (Acts 10:1–4)
Dorcas was raised from the dead because her works had become her voice when she could no longer speak. (Acts 9:36–41)
DEAR READER,
You never really give and lose.
Every time you extend help, you store mercy in a vault that only Heaven knows when to open.
A helping hand may not be rewarded immediately, but when life pushes you to the wall that help becomes a voice of remembrance.
What are you storing today?
SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:
Luke 7:1–10 (The Centurion’s servant)
Acts 10:1–4 (Cornelius’ memorial)
Acts 9:36–41 (Dorcas’ resurrection)
Proverbs 19:17 – “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and He will reward them for what they have done.”
PRAYER BULLETS:
Father, let the seeds of mercy I have sown rise as a memorial in my day of need.
Lord, open my eyes to see those around me who need help, so I may become an instrument of compassion in Your hands.
Wherever I have withheld help out of fear or selfishness, forgive me Lord, and give me a new heart of generosity.
In my day of crisis, let favor remember me. Let the help I once gave return with multiplied answers.
Oh Lord, may my life be filled with acts of love that heaven never forgets.
DECLARATION:
I am a channel of mercy. I sow compassion daily, and I will reap testimonies of divine remembrance in Jesus’ name.

God bless you mama for this post. I learnt that it’s more precious to give than to receive
