‘WHEN KINGS NEED PRAYERS:
A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

I once worked under a manager who was as unpredictable as the weather. One moment, he would be warm and inspiring. The next, he’d snap at everyone like a ticking bomb.
We all complained, during lunch breaks, after meetings, in secret WhatsApp groups.
Until one day, someone said something that shifted my perspective:
“What if he’s carrying more than we know?”
We later found out his teenage son was battling drug addiction, his wife had filed for separation, and the company’s board was threatening to downsize.
He wasn’t just a boss.
He was a king under siege.
And all we did was gossip when we could’ve prayed.
That day, I made a silent vow:
“I’ll pray for my kings.”

Every person in leadership over your life, whether it’s your husband, pastor, boss, parent, president, or mentor, is a king.
And kings, by design, face constant attack, pressure, and temptation.
Some fight battles they can’t speak about.
Some are spiritually blind.
Some are one prayer away from making the right decision.
Your prayers could be the turning point.
- Instead of mocking your husband’s emotional distance, pray.
- Instead of dragging your boss in conversations, intercede.
- Instead of tweeting about your president’s failures, go on your knees.
Even your children, as future kings and queens, need you to lift them up in prayer.
*****
SCRIPTURE FOCUS:
“I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people, for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives…”
— 1 Timothy 2:1–2 (NIV)
****
PRAYER POINTS:
1. Lord, open my eyes to see the burden on the kings in my life.
2. I lift up every authority figure connected to me, empower them, protect them, and guide them.
3. Father, teach me to support with prayer, not complaints.
*****
ACTION STEP:
Make a list of the “kings” in your life; your parents, leaders, boss, children, and spouse, and begin to pray for them one by one this week.
*****
If you want to enjoy your king, you must pray for your king.
