WHEN GOD MOVES ON

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Tunde sat on his bed in silence, staring at his phone. The call he had just received left him numb. The church project he once led had been handed over to someone else without warning, without explanation. He had poured his heart into it for years, and now it was gone.

“Lord,” he whispered, “what did I do wrong?”

That night, he couldn’t sleep. His heart felt heavy, and his mind replayed every mistake he might have made. He wept bitterly, just like Samuel mourned for Saul. But then, in the midst of his tears, he heard a quiet voice in his heart:
“How long will you mourn what I have moved past? I have not rejected you, I am redirecting you.”

Tunde froze. Could it be that this loss was not punishment, but mercy? That God had simply shifted His plan?

In that moment, he knelt and prayed, “Lord, please don’t reject me. If You must move, don’t move without me. If You’re shifting things, help me shift with You.”

Peace settled over him like a blanket. He realized that divine rejection often looks like redirection, God’s way of leading us into something new when we’ve grown too attached to what’s old.

A few months later, Tunde was assigned to a new ministry. It was smaller, quieter, but filled with power and purpose. And deep within, he finally understood, it’s better to be wherever God is moving than to stay where He has left.

God’s rejection is never random; it’s often a sign of redirection. He may close one door not to punish you, but to preserve you.
Don’t cling to what He has left behind. Instead, cry out, “Lord, whatever You’re doing, don’t do it without me.”

May mercy always speak for us when our actions fall short, and may His presence never depart from us.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
1 Samuel 16:1 – “The Lord said to Samuel, ‘How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him as king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and be on your way; I am sending you to Jesse of Bethlehem. I have chosen one of his sons to be king.’”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, have mercy on me — please don’t reject me or move on without me.

Father, wherever I have disobeyed or fallen short, forgive me and restore me by Your mercy.

Lord, if You are shifting things in my life, help me not to resist but to follow You wholeheartedly.
