It started with whispers.

Nkechi was barely 24 when she got appointed as the youth fellowship leader. Not because she campaigned for it, but because her heart genuinely burned for service. She had been consistent, prayerful, and loving.

But soon, the rumors began.

“She’s too ambitious…”
“She thinks she’s better than us.”
“I heard she manipulates her way into leadership.”

The saddest part? Most of the talk came from fellow believers, even people she once prayed with. What was worse? They thought they were right.

That was when her mentor said, “Nkechi, even Jesus faced this. And not from pagans but from His own people.”

In Matthew 27, the crowd shouted “Crucify Him!” not because He had sinned, but because they had been stirred into believing He was a threat. They truly thought they were doing the right thing.

How tragic when people fight you thinking they’re serving God.

Friend, not every critic is evil, some are sincerely wrong. And unless God intervenes, people can become tools in the enemy’s hands without realizing it.

But you’re not helpless.

Like David, pray:
“Let those who seek my downfall without cause be put to shame. Turn the counsel of Ahithophel to foolishness.” (See Psalm 35 & 2 Sam. 15:31)

If Jesus, perfect, blameless was wrongly attacked by people who believed they were right, how much more you?
But here’s the assurance: God sees. God knows. And God will defend.

Matthew 27:24 – “When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing… he took water and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person.”
📖 Psalm 35:1 – “Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me: fight against them that fight against me.”

1. Lord, shield me from wrongly motivated attacks in Jesus’ name.

2. May no man or woman rise against me thinking they are serving You.

3. Father, surround me with Your mercy and confuse every satanic counsel working to discredit me.
