A Deep Thoughts Devotional

Ayo stood by the door of the café, stunned. Two of her teenage mentees were seated behind her, unaware that she was listening.
“I like Aunty Ayo,” the first girl said. “But sometimes she talks as if she’s better than everyone. You notice how she rolls her eyes when we say something wrong?”
The second girl laughed. “She’s cool o, but she doesn’t really listen. I don’t think I’ll ever talk to her about anything deep.”

Those words struck Ayo like lightning. She had given her time, her money, her Saturdays, all to be a light to these girls. But in their heads, the book of her life read differently than she expected. They were reading her… and it wasn’t encouraging.

That evening, she went home and asked God in tears, “What have I become?”

The truth is, you are a walking book.
Each word, choice, and habit adds a sentence, a paragraph, even a chapter to the story others are reading about you, even if they never tell you what they’re seeing.

So the question is:
What genre of book are you writing with your life?

Are you a manual for mercy or a catalogue of complaints?
Are you a devotional of discipline or a memoir of manipulation?
Are people learning love, peace, patience and faith from watching you, or selfishness, pride, and envy?

Paul reminded the believers that “you yourselves are our letter, written on our hearts, known and read by everyone.” (2 Corinthians 3:2–3)

Like it or not, someone is flipping through your pages, silently studying your values, convictions, priorities, and habits.

But the good news?
Your story can change today.
The Author of Life is willing to rewrite your next chapter if you’ll surrender your pen.
