‘THE POWER OF ONE LETTER’

I remember Efe. A once-bubbly young man whose life hit a sharp decline. Business deals failed. Rent overdue. Feeding? By miracle.

“Ma,” he told me one day, “I don’t need much. I just want God to raise me from this mess.”
His words struck me, especially when he said, “I’ve prayed. I’ve fasted. But this pit keeps getting deeper.”

That night, I reflected on his words:
“Raise me.”

Then it hit me. What’s the one thing that shifts a raise from a cry for help to a doorway for miracles?

Just add ‘P’.

PRAISE.

Efe had been praying from the pit, but he hadn’t praised above it. So I told him, “Just worship. Turn that request into thanksgiving. Speak life over your nothingness.”

He started doing it. Every day. Loud praise. Silent praise. Sung praise. Whispered worship.
By the third week, a client who had ghosted him for months suddenly paid up in full. Not long after, he got a new job offer, double the pay he had been begging God for.

Why?

Because praise raises.
It draws God’s presence into the valley.
It multiplies what looks like not enough.
Jesus gave thanks for five loaves, and it fed thousands (Matt. 14:19).
Lazarus’ story shifted the moment Jesus lifted His eyes and gave thanks (John 11:41).

When you raise God’s name in praise, He lifts you in return.
