‘THE OTHER SIDE OF THE STORY’

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Adanna was the woman everyone admired in church.

  • First to arrive for weekly prayer meetings.
  • Always willing to serve.
  • She sponsors several children’s school fees in her community.
  • She’s a voice of encouragement to new believers.

In fact, some members privately nicknamed her “The Saint of Sanctuary Hill.”

But there was another side to her story.

Back home, her younger sister, Zizi, lived with her,and constantly walked on eggshells. One wrong move, one missed chore, one mistake, and Adanna would explode.

The yelling. The insults. The threats.
“You’ll never amount to anything!”
“I took you in out of pity, and this is how you repay me?”

Zizi had once considered suicide.
But she stayed, because she had nowhere else to go.

Like the churches in Revelation, Adanna had glowing credentials: service, giving, faithfulness.
BUT, her bitterness, pride, and cruelty at home contradicted everything she preached in public.

We often forget: God sees the full picture.
He sees the prayers and the pride.
The worship and the wicked words.
The giving hand and the hurting tongue.

If there’s an area of your life that doesn’t align with what you profess publicly, that’s the “BUT.”
And God is calling you to surrender it before it invalidates your impact.

SCRIPTURE REFERENCES:

  • Revelation 3:1 – “I know your deeds; you have a reputation of being alive, but you are dead.”
  • James 3:10 – “Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be.”

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, help me live truthfully, not just visibly.

2. Let no hidden fault cancel my open obedience.

3. May my private life bring You just as much glory as my public ministry.
