I stood there stunned, replaying the words in my head.
“You never asked.”

That sentence echoed louder than the disappointment itself.

Let me explain.

For years, Ada admired an old wooden chair in her aunt’s living room. It wasn’t fancy, but it carried stories, late-night prayers, quiet reflections, moments of peace. Whenever Ada visited, she sat there, rested there, and felt at home there. In her heart, she already considered it hers.

One afternoon, a distant cousin came visiting. She noticed the chair and casually said, “Aunty, this chair is beautiful. Can I have it?”

Without hesitation, the aunt replied, “Of course.”

Ada froze.
Of course?

Later, hurt and confused, she confronted her aunt. “But you know I love that chair. I’ve used it for years.”

Her aunt looked at her gently and asked a question that pierced her heart:
“Then why didn’t you ask?”

Ada tried to explain her loyalty, her presence, her assumption that closeness guaranteed ownership. But her aunt shook her head.

“Being around an opportunity is not the same as claiming it.
Being close is not the same as acting.
Timing matters.”

She went on to explain how many people lose things not because they are undeserving, but because they are passive. Opportunities don’t always wait for loyalty; sometimes they respond to initiative.

Ada went home quiet that day, but wiser. She realized something painful yet freeing:
Some doors close not because God said no, but because we never knocked.

Many blessings are lost, not to enemies, but to delay.
Not to witches, but to hesitation.
Not to unworthiness, but to silence.

God gives opportunities, but He expects response.
Faith that never acts becomes regret in disguise.

If it is time to speak: speak.
If it is time to move: move.
If it is time to ask: ask.

Don’t assume tomorrow will still hold what today is offering.

“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, open my eyes to recognize divine opportunities in my season.

Father, remove fear, delay, and indecision from my heart.

Lord, give me the wisdom and courage to act at the right time.
