Sade sat quietly in her car after church, engine off, hands on the steering wheel. Everything in her life looked successful from the outside, money, connections, applause but inside, something felt terribly misplaced.

Years ago, she had loved God deeply. Her dreams were clear. Her convictions were strong. But somewhere along the journey, survival turned into compromise, and compromise slowly became a lifestyle.

That evening, as worship echoed faintly from the church building, one thought pierced her heart:
“This is not where you were meant to end up.”

Across town, Kunle chased opportunities relentlessly, convinced that distance from home was the key to fulfillment. Comfort came easily, but purpose felt distant. Each day looked productive, yet empty.

Nearby, Bisi knelt beside her bed, tired of shortcuts she never thought she would take. Waiting had become painful. Trusting God had become difficult. And desperation had whispered louder than faith.

Different lives.
Different stories.
One common truth.

God still cared.

Egypt in Scripture was attractive, full of resources, protection, and influence. But it was never meant to be home for God’s people. At best, it was a temporary shelter. At worst, a beautiful captivity.

God hid Moses there for a season but He never intended Moses to stay.
Joseph passed through Egypt but his heart never belonged to it.
Israel prospered there briefly but destiny demanded an exit.

God always had a timetable.
And when the time came, He called His children out.

Today’s Egypt is not always a place, it is a position of compromise.
A space where gifts are used without God.
Where comfort replaces calling.
Where survival overshadows obedience.

And yet, even there, God’s heart still beats with passion.
Not anger.
Not rejection.
But longing.

“Come back,” He whispers.
“There is more for you than this.”

God does not abandon His children when they wander.
But He will never stop calling them home.

If you are where God did not send you, if your soul feels restless despite success
it may be time to return.

Destiny is not fulfilled in compromise.
Purpose is not completed in captivity.

There is a land prepared for you and it is not Egypt.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Hosea 11:1 – “When Israel was a child, I loved him, and out of Egypt I called my son.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Father, open my eyes to recognize any place or pattern that is pulling me away from Your will.

Lord, give me the courage to leave what looks attractive but weakens my destiny.

God of mercy, draw every wandering heart back to purpose, truth, and obedience.
