‘THE BRAND AMBASSADORS’

As Inspired by The LIVING WORD

I used to admire Joy and Chuka deeply. They were committed believers, passionate about evangelism, and always seen on the streets, sharing gospel tracts and praying with strangers. Their zeal was contagious.

But there was something off.

It wasn’t their message, it was their presentation. Chuka’s shirts were usually crumpled, and Joy often had tangled hair and slippers caked with mud. As sincere as they were, their appearance became a distraction.

I battled with how to speak to them without sounding judgmental. Until one evening during our fellowship prep meeting, I found an opening.

“Guys,” I said gently, “have you ever thought of yourselves as brand ambassadors?”

They paused, confused.

“Like, for Jesus. You’re representing the kingdom of God to the world, right?”

“Of course,” Joy nodded.

“Well,” I continued, “then how we carry ourselves; our attitude, our words, even our appearance, should reflect the excellence of the One we represent.”

Chuka blinked. “Are you saying we don’t look the part?”

“Let’s be real,” I smiled. “If you were selling a luxury product, would you show up looking like you didn’t believe in the value of what you’re offering?”

The room went quiet. Not in offense, but reflection.

Truth is, many of us as believers don’t realize we carry a message before we speak it. Our appearance is not about vanity, it’s about honor. We serve a God of excellence and order. When He was to meet the Israelites at Sinai, He told them to wash and prepare themselves (Exodus 19:10–11). Cleanliness was part of spiritual preparation.

Let’s ask ourselves: Would crowds follow a Jesus that looked unkempt, careless, and disordered? Likely not.

It’s not about fashion labels or expensive clothes, it’s about being tidy, presentable, and intentional.

I’ve made my own mistakes. I’ve shown up sloppy when I should’ve shown up sharp. But I’m learning daily that I represent something and Someone, greater than myself.

Let’s clean up, friends. Let’s honor God not just in word but in appearance. Let’s represent our BRAND, Jesus Christ, with excellence, joy, and care.

Because our message is too precious to be wrapped in mediocrity.

Are you representing the BRAND well?
