“GUARDING YOUR BLESSING”

“A position of favor is a test of faith,” Ifeanyi said, shaking his head. “I used to have everything—success, wealth, a healthy family. But somewhere along the way, I forgot to honor God, and now, I see how quickly things can slip through your fingers.”

He sat with his friends, each reflecting on the moment they had taken their blessings for granted. The Israelites, once delivered by God, had forgotten the one who gave them their land, and as a result, they lost it. The Assyrians, though they had no covenant with God, found themselves in a land of prosperity, but their disregard for God’s law invited devouring lions to wreak havoc on them.

The story of the Israelites and the Assyrians is a warning: If we forget God when He blesses us, we risk losing our settlement. We can either choose to be grateful and faithful to God or open ourselves up to the consequences of pride and disobedience.

God’s blessings are not just to be enjoyed, they are a responsibility. If we fail to honor God with what He has given us, we risk inviting destruction into our lives. Settled in His promises, we must choose to remain faithful.

1. Lord, help me not to take my blessings for granted.
2. I refuse to forget You after You have blessed me.
3. Father, prevent me from falling into pride or neglect of Your goodness.
4. I declare that no devourer will come near my settlement in Jesus’ name.
