‘ EMBRACING YOUR WEAKNESS, CHOOSING TO SHINE’

We often struggle to accept the parts of us we consider “flaws,” don’t we? The areas where we feel inadequate or incomplete.

I remember when Sarah confided in me about a feeling that had been haunting her for years. “I’m not good enough,” she said with a defeated sigh. “I can’t be used. I’m not like everyone else.”

I could hear the pain in her voice. She was talking about her lack of a college degree, something that constantly made her feel inferior. Despite her brilliant ideas and God-given creativity, she felt like her imperfections, her educational background held her back.

“Sarah, let me ask you something,” I said. “Do you remember Moses?”

She looked at me with a confused expression, so I continued. “Moses had a speech impediment. But God still called him to lead millions out of Egypt. Moses didn’t feel qualified. He argued with God, telling Him his imperfection was a barrier. God tried to reassure him: ‘I made your mouth.’ But Moses couldn’t stop focusing on his flaw. Eventually, God gave in and sent Aaron to speak for him. But imagine how much more Moses could have done if he’d trusted God with his imperfection instead of letting it stop him.”

We’re like that sometimes, aren’t we? We see the areas where we feel inadequate and think it disqualifies us from greatness. It could be a health condition, a lack of resources, or even physical appearance. But the truth is, our imperfections are not a hindrance to God’s plan for us, they are simply part of the masterpiece He’s creating.

Think of it like a broken vessel. When we embrace those imperfections, we allow God to work through them. He doesn’t expect perfection; He’s waiting for willingness. So stop letting your imperfections stop you from stepping into what He’s called you to. Like Moses, you have been chosen despite what you think are your shortcomings.

When we stop letting our flaws define us, we make room for God’s strength to shine through. Your imperfections don’t stop God. They can’t. And neither should you.
