‘DISTRACTED BY THE WRONG FIGHT’

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Efe had just wrapped up another fiery thread on social media.
Topic? Whether a true pastor should own a private jet.

He had facts, scriptures, and followers backing him in the comments. But deep inside, a strange emptiness lingered.

That evening, at a small Bible study he randomly attended, the preacher didn’t speak about money, jets, or church politics.

He spoke about Yemi, a 14-year-old girl battling depression and suicidal thoughts because no one around her spoke about Christ, only controversies.

He shared about Chuka, a young boy addicted to porn, while his Christian mentors were busy arguing doctrine online.

Efe’s heart sank.

For the first time, he realized he had been fighting, but it was the wrong fight.

He had forgotten the real enemy wasn’t the tithe debate—it was darkness stealing a generation.

The enemy is cunning—he won’t always use sin to distract believers; sometimes, he uses debate.

Just like in Matthew 4, Satan tempted Jesus to prove Himself. But Jesus didn’t take the bait. He knew who He was.

Likewise, as believers, our energy shouldn’t be spent proving points that don’t save souls. While we argue, teenagers are sinking. While we debate theology, marriages are breaking.

Yes, doctrine matters, but not above love, evangelism, and Kingdom focus.

Let’s choose our battles wisely. Let’s face the essentials.

Matthew 4:7 – “Jesus answered him, ‘It is also written: Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

PRAYER POINTS:

1. Lord, help me focus on what truly matters in Your Kingdom.

2. Open my eyes to see the silent battles around me that need my voice and love.

3. Deliver me from distractions disguised as righteous arguments.
