CHAPTER 2 – “CORDELIA”

They always say curiosity killed the cat. What they never tell you is that the cat didn’t die immediately. It played around the edge a bit, sniffed, tasted, even danced…until one day, it was too deep in to escape.

That was Cordelia.

The last time I saw her before everything scattered was three weeks after she gave me the first bombshell. She strolled into Holy & Fire like she was visiting an old friend…not like someone who used to cry on the altar during midnight prayers.

I ran to hug her.

“Cordeeelzzzzz!” I stretched the name like puff-puff dough.

She smiled, but there was something in her smile….like she was present, but her spirit was checking signal from another frequency.

I should have known.

“Guess what, Sis Mabel?” she whispered during announcements.

“What?” I whispered back.

“I’ve found my destiny church!”

Destiny ke? I raised one eyebrow pretending I didn’t understand. “I thought we already found it. Holy & Fire?”

She chuckled. “No o. That was preparation. Kairos Christian Household. Sis Mabel, they are deep. They see things. They live consecrated. They even pray with sanctified blood!”

I didn’t laugh. I just tilted my head and asked slowly: “Which kind of blood?”

“The pastor’s purified blood.”

I paused. My heart paused. Even my ear paused.

I said, “Cordelia, you know this sounds like something they use to initiate people in Nollywood film, right?”

She laughed. “No, no, no. They’re just different. You have to understand the Kairos dimension. You don’t get it yet, but you will.”

At that point, I knew talking to her was like pouring tea into a basket.

So I changed strategy.

I went to find their website.

It looked like something built by a tech angel…clean design, dramatic slogans like ‘Sanctified. Separated. Sealed.’

No names of spiritual fathers.
No affiliations.
No history.

Just prophetic buzzwords and a form to “enter the Kairos gate.”

I even listened to a few of the pastor’s sermons. Deep-sounding but spiritually shallow. Scriptures twisted like suya. Logic that appealed to the soul but starved the spirit.

Still, Cordelia was sold.

I tried one last time to talk her down.

“Test all spirits, Cordelia,” I said. “Our Bible tells us that. And tell me…what are you really looking for that you haven’t found in Holy & Fire? Haven’t we raised the dead spiritually? Haven’t we encountered God? Haven’t you seen His hand move?”

But Cordelia’s eyes told me I was too late. She had already crossed the line with her heart, even if her body was still standing beside me.

She nodded politely and said, “I appreciate your concern, Sis Mabel. But this is my season of separation.”

Then came the worst part.

She vanished…not just temporary separation.

I mean vanished vanished. No church. No social media posts. Her line stopped going through. Her parents were frantic. Youths from church were praying.

Well, in the midst of all that, there was someone who did differently…

If there’s one thing about Tijesuni, it’s that she doesn’t panic, she prays.

She walked into the office that morning with that same calm air, but I could see it in her eyes…she had seen something. Something dangerous. Something demonic.

“Cordelia is in trouble,” she said.

I dropped my Pure bliss Biscuit.

“You saw her?”

She nodded. “Yes. Not physically. Spiritually.”

She shared her vision….

A dark room.

Prayer Chanting and Humming.

A bowl of blood.

Cordelia, kneeling in a white garment, was weeping.

The voice that echoed in the vision called the place Kairos Christian Household.

My stomach twisted.

“Cordelia mentioned that name…” I murmured.

“I know. That’s where she is.”

I wanted to scream. To cry. To march to wherever that church was and drag her out. But Tijesuni was calm….too calm for my liking.

“We need to go in,” she said.

“Go in?” I asked.

“Yes, Mabel. Jesus came into the world to save the lost. This is our Jesus strategy. Cordelia won’t come out until someone enters.”

I froze. “You mean… We should become their members?”

“Yes. Disguised. Enrolled. Like missionaries.”

I laughed nervously. “TJ, this isn’t some online YouTube drama. This is real life. These people are dangerous!”

“And so was Pharaoh,” she said. “But Moses still went in.”

I didn’t know what scared me more…Cordelia’s captivity or Tijesuni’s unwavering boldness.

“God ABEG…Me I cannot enter Lion’s Den ooo, maybe Tijesuni would go and I stay to intercede.” I said to myself.

  1. Hmmm. Even me, I’m scared of this chapter. May God go with you T.J. We will stay back and intercede.

      1. Replying to @Grace Shiya Bahago

Go in keh? This is not always the best strategy o. The Baptist sent someone to go into the ognoni cult to understudy them, he came out and founded the refined ogboni confraternity(feel free to verify)
Remember that God instructed Joseph to run with baby Jesus to show us that wisdom is indeed the principal thing and that there are times we need to backdown. He wasn’t having issues taking herod out. Please lets be guided. Daniel was thrown into the lion’s den, he didn’t go looking for it

  2. Hum! This life is truly a war ground. When you feel you’re overcoming another thing comes up. God help us in Jesus name. Mabel with her pure bliss biscuits chai.
One more thing we are told that ” he that thinks he’s standing should watch less he falls”. Oh Cordelia!

  3. Thank you for making us work with the master with different dimensions…God Bless you Ma

  4. Tijesuni na sister Daniel o for Lion den. Sis Mabel and Pure Bliss biscuit abeg no forget the ginger tea o.

    More Grace

  5. Aunty Mabel, stay where and intercede 😂😂😂

Cordelia was searching for something that was not lost.
