GOD IN THE LITTLE BEGINNINGS

A Deep Thoughts Devotional Story

Ope loved big things.
Big ideas.
Big launches.
Big results.

So when she decided to start a business, she went all out. She rented a large space, bought expensive equipment, and made sure everything looked impressive. But within months, the business struggled… and eventually failed.

She tried again bigger, better, bolder. Another failure.
Again, same story.

Frustrated and confused, Ope fell on her knees one evening.
“Lord, what am I missing? I have the resources. I have the drive. Why isn’t anything working?”

Days later, while preparing a simple meal, her younger sister said casually,
“Your homemade sauce is so good… why don’t you just sell this?”

Ope paused.
Sell… this?

It felt too small. Too ordinary. Too unimpressive.
What would people say?

She ignored the idea at first and pursued another “big” opportunity. But once again, it failed.

This time, with nothing left to prove, she decided to try the small idea.
She started from her kitchen, no fancy setup, no big announcements. Just her, her pots, and her recipe.

To her surprise, the first batch sold out almost immediately. Then came more orders. Then referrals. Then growth.

What she once despised as “too small” became the very thing that changed her life.

And in that quiet success, she realized something powerful:
God had been speaking all along not through the loud, impressive ideas… but through a simple, gentle nudge.

Just like Elijah, who expected God in the wind, the earthquake, and the fire but found Him in a still small voice.

Not every divine instruction will look impressive.
Not every God-given idea will feel big.

Sometimes, the greatest blessings are hidden in the smallest beginnings.

Don’t let pride or perception blind you.
Don’t ignore what seems insignificant.

God often starts small but He never ends small.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
1 Kings 19:12 – “…and after the fire a still small voice.”

PRAYER POINTS:

Lord, help me to recognize Your voice, even in the smallest instructions.
Father, remove pride and help me not to despise little beginnings.
Lord, give me the obedience to act on what You have placed in my heart.
