HE NEVER MISSES HIS APPOINTMENTS

This was the fourth time Ifunanya sat alone at the café, her phone face-down on the table, her heart face-up in pain.
Four times in one month.
Four promises.
Four disappointments.

She had stopped crying. She had started blaming herself.
“Maybe I’m not enough,” she whispered.
“Maybe this is what I deserve.”

She glanced at her watch again when a man in a neat shirt gently approached her table.

“Sorry to interrupt,” he said kindly, “but I couldn’t help noticing… you’ve been waiting.”

“Yes,” Ifunanya replied bitterly, “for someone who never shows up.”

He smiled softly.
“I know Someone who always does.”

She frowned. “Excuse me?”

“The One who made the promise in the first place,” he continued.
“The One who said, ‘I know the thoughts I think toward you… thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you an expected end.’”

Her heart skipped.
She knew he wasn’t just talking.
He was speaking.

“But why is it taking so long?” she asked, her voice shaking.

“Because some promises are being prepared, not delayed,” he replied.
“God never rushes what He intends to last.”

She looked down.
“So, I should just… wait?”

“Yes,” he said gently.
“Not with bitterness, not with compromise but with trust.
God is not careless with your life.
He would never hand you something half-formed.”

He stood up, and as he did, his wedding ring caught the light.

“God didn’t miss His appointment with me,” he said.
“He arrived right on time and gave me the best partner I could ever have.”

Eight months later, Ifunanya stood in that same café, this time in white, holding the hand of the man who would never stand her up.

Her toast that day was simple:

“I asked God for a gift.
I told Him I was tired of waiting.
But He didn’t fail me.
He didn’t rush me.
He didn’t forget me.
He gave me you
and you were worth every second I waited.”

Maybe it’s not a husband you’re waiting for.
Maybe it’s a child.
Maybe it’s healing.
Maybe it’s restoration.
Maybe it’s breakthrough.

Whatever it is
God has not forgotten you.
He has not stood you up.
He has not broken His word.

Don’t compromise the promise.
Because compromise can make you completely lose what God is preparing.

KEY SCRIPTURE:
Habakkuk 2:3 –
“Though it tarries, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not delay.”

PRAYER:

Lord, in Your mercy and loving-kindness, give me grace to wait patiently, and hasten the fulfillment of Your promises in my life, in Jesus’ name.
